Re: The Magpies Are Now The AFL Power Reserves

Same port, new port, old port, blue port.

Who gives a flying fig which port.

Bottom line is the team running around in the magpies livery from 2014 is not a sovereign SANFL club. The sooner it pisses off to a competition which more befits its nature (taking its cross-town cousin with it), the better.

Re: Rnd 2 - Sturt v Adelaide @ Envestra Park (Sat 11/4)

When I poster the question above, Phils original post stated the reserves started at 11.25. He has since edited his post to remove that.
Yeah, sorry, Force of habit and copy / pate from other match preview posts I'd written. Have to remember to amend this accordingly on all Crows games posts. Sorry, mate.

I would be expecting that the "top of the table tiger tamers" will expose the "violet crumbles" and grab another 2 premiership points....... :D

Re: Rnd 4 - Glenelg v Adelaide @ Gilderol (Fri N 25/4)

I always like to catch up with the 'Bays blokes' @ least once a year - Stampy, Dirko, Spargo, Pseudo, etc. :)
Sorry LE... oops, LPH... but if you want to see me you'll have to come back on Saturday arvo for the second meeting of the Bay Oval Bye Week Book Club (tm). Come and discuss modern literature (i.e. the Football Budget) and view performing arts (i.e. the SANFL telecast) over a few beers, safe in the knowledge that you are supporting a sovereign SANFL club without sanctioning the presence of unwanted interlopers.

Re: AFL Reserves. The Pros and Cons:

Glenelg's financial issues aren't sponsorship (yes, more would be nice), it's the lack of patronage at the Bar and Bistro and Function Centre, which has a direct relationship to on field success.
All the more reason to spend Saturday afternoon in the GFC clubrooms, in the absence of a real game this weekend. 8)

Re: The 2014 season no AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Except you'd only be hurting your own club for not turning up to their function where they get all the profits ... #-o

So you should pack the place out, eat and drink heaps but give him lots of shit.

Problem solvered.
Or instead of attending the function, go to the clubrooms on the next day for a meal and a few beers. Find a way to support your club without also acknowledging the interlopers.

Works for me 8)

Rnd 5 - Adelaide v Port Magpies @ Clare Oval (Sun 4/5)

We have a great looking forward line, if the ball gets down there enough we should be able to finish. Has there ever been a better forward line at SANFL level?

F: Walker, Johnston, Porp
HF: Knights, McKernan, Callinan
Over the decades there have been plenty of good forward lines.
May be the best forward line of the era since the Crows came in but pre AFL days there were better forward lines
How soon we forget the great eras, most of those players you have named wouldnt be fit to clean the boots of the great SANFL players of the past

Re: The 2014 season no AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

To Dols, booney. kikinit

This is a serious question, so don’t take it as a dig but with the following, do you see the advantage gifted to you or would you consider having the below all part and parcel
Full Time Coaches, Fitness coach touted as one of the best in the world, Dieticians, Sports Physiologists, Fitness personnel, Doctors and Physios, Massage therapist , player e welfare managers, Million dollar facilities, Million dollar Fitness Facilities, recovery facilities, Million dollar Medical Facilities.
Full Time Professional AFL players averaging around 15 players per game with a combined salary of $2-$3 million dollars
Yes the crows have all of the above and I don’t give a shit as my club doesn’t nor does 7 other SANFL clubs.
I am not whinging because The Power is on Top I dislike the crows with a passion as well for playing in a comp and having these benefits and advantages.
And the thing that pisses every one of the most is you will not acknowledge the advantage given to your team.
You were granted an AFL licence, and good onya, but don’t use the resources of being given that and think you have no advantage or been given any advantage over your opposition. Most of the other items apart from the Salary cap could be taken that the club has worked to get those advantages. But unfortunately the Salary Cap can’t be.
Even Collingwood in the AFL have advantages over the comp in terms of $, but funnily enough a new word has entered the equation Equalisation, where the AFL has said we can’t have a team with that much financial clout and off field advantages although they have the same salary cap as the rest of the comp.
So the Brains trust at the AFL has seen how having a team with more resources will destroy their comp but for some reason you can’t see how it will destroy the SANFL

Re: What is you interest so far in the SANFL competition in

I'm passionate about how well sturt are doing and mostly the league but am put off by the afl influence and disregard games involving power and crows reserves

I wanted to choose option two but couldn't do it...so option three it was.

Id say that would be most ppl

Congratulations Norwood

Congratulations Norwood: the best performed sovereign team in a compromised competition. What a shame that it will be forced to play a scratch match next week for the sake of getting game time into another league's reserve players, rather than earning its title in a Grand Final against another properly-matched sovereign team.

Congratulations South Adelaide: pure minor premiers, and thus the best performed team by the only possible measure between properly-matched sovereign teams. What a shame - and indeed farce - that the Panthers were forced to battle from fourth position on the compromised ladder.

I might have gone to next week's game as a matter of support for the league, had it been between two proper opponents. As it is, the season is now over. Thus ends the first year under occupation from that bastard eastern league. I look forward to when the interlopers leave - for whatever reason - and Our League is restored.

Re: Pure SANFL ladder, 2015

Ladder to round 7. The Panthers suffer their first loss and tumble from top to fifth, with the four teams previously below them all having wins. Glenelg loses more than three full percentage points after today's pants-down bum-spanking yet still remains ahead of the also-winless Roosters.

Re: Finals Series

Guessing an Eagles-South GF would draw 15-18,000, Eagles-West 18-20,000, but I reckon a South-West GF would draw 25,000, would be a lot of neutrals go along
As a neutral I will attend the Grand Final regardless of which teams are playing - provided that they are both dinkum teams and not eastern league ring-ins.
