Adelaide Oval doesn't deserve this. She's too pretty.

I was wondering the same thing about the crowds whether just haven't come back since COVID.
Last year's crowd was 27,459 but remember it was shocking weather which must have kept a lot of people away. Today was the first real test as to whether crowds have come back after Covid.
North vs Norwood in 2018 was 40,355, Glenelg vs Port in 2019 was 39,105, Sturt vs Port in 2017 was 39,813 and Port vs Norwood in 2014, 38,444.
I was expecting 40,000 today. Would have the warm weather kept some people away?
Even though the winning margin was 24 points, as a neutral I never thought Sturt were a threat. It felt like an 8 goal game and that would certainly impacted the atmosphere.

Cost of living is a major factor. As a neutral I wouldn’t be going, 8 beers and an entry ticket and I'm $130 in the hole. That's a tank of fuel.

But as always there were heaps of free tickets floating around.
I don't want to get political, but there are a lot more people working now than in the mid 2010s.

After my post with predictions ( 1/2 ) headed out to Mitcham for a big screen running of a George Lucas classic, made the year before these two clubs last faced off for the flag - the first Grand Final at Football Park.

Caught some of the first quarter on the canteen telly afterwards and, topic covered I realise, I was surprised to see the number of empty seats.

Well done Glenelg. Outstanding, well drilled team, controlled the game from the opening bounce for your first flag against a club's senior side in 27 years. =D> Doubled up with the Bs who also had a superb year.

Sturt, although zip from four grades' GFs, well done for at least giving themselves a shot at those titles. Should be darn proud of themselves.

Congratulations to the Bays, better on the day and took their chances.

Unfortunately, my Double blues couldn't kick straight, but I am so proud of this football club, will love it to the day I die.

Glenelg were the better team all year and deserved it.

How the heck is Hosie not playing AFL??

Hope Gadj is OK, poor bugger had his birthday on the weekend only to see his beloved Carlton and Sturt both lose within 24 hours! :(

Well done Glenelg - best team all year.
When presenting the Premiership Medals did the announcer (can't recall her name) call up Connor McLeod who didn't play in the League game but played Reserves???

Not the best game, win ugly queue in the rack after quarter time really

Did what we had to do

I’ll take it after ******* up 14 other flags!!

Apologies "queue in the rack" is not my best choice of words after maintaining my hydration levels in the SACA committee room.

Sturt with over 100 tackles had a crack all game. Every time we tried to crack it open they'd come back.

At times we were our own worst enemy as four defensive errors on our part led to Sturt goals (one in the 2nd, three o in the third)

Hosie, Lyons Snook and Gerloff supurb

HMs to Bell, Proudy and Stagg

However each player when they had to stood up and delivered.

That, or, port Nuffies trolling a game about crowd, atmosphere all week when they’re not involved.

Just remember, you get what you deserve.

Happily stand corrected if anyone else tuning in thought the atmosphere was amazing.

As for the crowd, it was disappointing. They hoped for 40,000 and fell short.

As if Port fans know anything about modern Grand final crowds.

They Haven't won a flag in 20 years.
