Stephens or Hinge from Sturt, Fields or Crabb at South, Forster at Norwood or Collier at Centrals? Or someone else?

Not hinge, not a true kpp

Stephens is in great form

Love state footy, been waiting for a road trip interstate since 2009. Will be there at Port Melboune with the Life FM crew.

Summerton and Bruggemann would be in calculations (if they are eligible)

I thought Port players were ok. Welcome back, not seen you in a few days.

Any player not on an AFL list is definitely eligible, so that includes Summerton and Bruggemann. The only grey area in the past has been players on AFL rookie lists, e.g. Kane Mitchell. I reckon that these days they're probably excluded. Summerton would have to be a good chance of getting a state jumper. Bruggemann has been a surprise packet for someone who'd never played league footy before, but is still a mile away from being a state rep.

Always interesting with blokes like Jimmy Allan, to what extent they pick on form and to what extent on reputation. Not that he's been at all bad since starting the year late, quite the contrary, but I doubt that if you had no idea who he was you'd say, 'must rush him into the state squad'.

Who knows who might make the larger squad, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if in the team that runs out on the ground there's only 1 Norwood player (McGuinness).

Tom Keough could be a sneaky chance at full back. Absolutely thrashed his opponents so far. Not bad for a guy who has played his career and started the year at centre half forward.

Summerton should be eligible, and should be in the squad. Been in outstanding form so far this season.

I thought Josh Glenn may have got a look in - although, his form in recent weeks has waned, with his team's.

How about this side then?:

F: Coad Wundke Silverlock
HF: Phillips Eddy Cross
C: Jarrad Schmidt Beech
HB: Thomas Miles McGuiness
B: Bode Stephens Caire
RU: Kurtze Tambling Summerton

Int: Brooksby Liddle Kirkwood Powell
Unlucky: Boyd, Ainger, Raymond, B.Kane
Powell can play back, Brooksby forward/ruck, Liddle & Kirkwood & Cross can all play on ball, Phillips & Silverlock can play wing

I've tried to incorporate the suggestions made throughout the thread - any objections or suggested improvements?

A midfield with Tambling and Summerton seems a little weak.

Have Caire and Silverlock been playing well enough this year to warrant a spot? Isn't Beech a forward player rather than a midfielder?

Tambling is a very good player but not sure he gets enough of the ball to be a starting midfielder.

Silverlock was dropped 2 weeks ago but only received a reprieve when Schmidt pulled out. Along way away from playing state footy at the moment.

From a North viewpoint there is one glaring omission and that is Matthew Campbell. He has been outstanding in the games that he has played for North this year and North missed him dreadfully last Saturday when he was out with a foot injury. I think that his use of the ball is second to none and he still breaks lines with his run.

Summerton on current form is the most outstanding mid fielder in the comp. would be leading the magarey.

Off topic somewhat, but I feel as though the coach of this side shouldnt be currently associated with an SANFL club.

Its 'interesting' that a few guys who played under Godden in previous state sides now find themselves at the Eagles.

Not so sure about leading it, but would certainly be high amongst the leaderboard...

Has a lot of AFL listed talent to compete against and the likes of Kane Mitchell and Ben Newton probably taking a few votes away from Summo...

Would prefer if no South players get picked just an opportunity for injury.

Couldn't really care if S.A were to win or lose. I'm prob a lot younger than alot on here and from my point of view State Footy means nothing to me.

Did S.A win last year or the year before no idea but I know Norwood won the flag.

I still find it very strange that the game is on in 24 days and no announcement of a squad? I recall other years being a lot earlier.
