Really? I thought winning was their number one priority, and their best available side would be on the park for all games.
P.S Am I allowed to mention this on this thread? I know some want to pretend that it's not happening and we aren't allowed to pop their bubbles.

And here's poor old Topsy lamenting at how slow the "pro-AFL" lobby is on the uptake.

Off to La-La land with you. Port's happy, screw the rest of us, just delete the complaints.

If the Power reserves play more of their magpie top up players then i think you have a better chance of winning but not with only 6-7 magpies.

Perfect example of the dismissiveness of any scrutiny of the poor crowds the Power reserves have got this year, or the reserves set up in general. You ask a valid question, they pull this 'tissue' bullshit.

Even though we playing well, I can't help feeling like when I was going to games in 1988 during our losing streak and I knew we going to lose and lose badly. I am confident that South 2014 will fight to the end and no matter what happens I will stay and support the guys until the final siren. One advantage is our coach knows the Port AFL players better than the other coaches.

FIRST QUARTERS 0-10mins, 2014 [in brackets: first goal of game / games played]
+58 pts [6/6] South 12.1 (73) to 2.3 (15)
+53 pts [5/6] Port 12.8 (80) to 4.3 (27)
+08 pts [3/6] North 6.4 (40) to 5.2 (32)
+03 pts [3/6] Norwood 4.6 (30) to 4.3 (27)
-04 pts [4/6] Adelaide 8.6 (54) to 9.4 (58)
-05 pts [3/6] Sturt 6.3 (39) to 6.8 (44)
-06 pts [2/6] West 6.4 (40) to 7.4 (46)
-11 pts [3/6] Eagles 7.4 (46) to 9.3 (57)
-34 pts [1/6] Centrals 3.4 (22) to 8.8 (56)
-62 pts [0/6] Glenelg 1.6 (12) to 11.8 (74)

First 10 mins of the game could be very telling (mainly for South), as this is where they and Port have blown away opponents before they've even woken up. While South has kicked the first goal and score of the game every time this season, Port has averaged almost 46 points in first quarters to just 10 since their Round 1 match v Norwood.

At last count Port will have 15 AFL listed, fulltime professional players playing on Saturday, who train or play 7 days a week. I saw a couple of South players digging a trench yesterday..before racing off to do a 2 hr hour training session last night, others are studying or working fulltime. They werent busy doing skills work running around witches hats, doing rehab or weights or honing their understanding of the game plan.

This years SANFL season is absolutely ludicrous. It is a grossly uneven competition. The clubs that voted for this diabolical shambles should hang their collective heads in shame. The SANFL commission is a disgrace for even contemplating this debacle.....

Having said that... I think South will take it right up to Port.
For those who havent twigged yet, this South Adelaide team ,its vastly different to the inept whipping boys of the past...

Their own team's grave for weekend?
Maybe dig a firebreak across the half forward line to slow down Port's scoring?

I don't really care about whatever advantages or perceived advantages they have at the moment, just gotta take it for what it is. If we come in with the right attitude and make the most of our opportunities, we can absolutely win.

Port has looked a million bucks in patches this year, but so have we (they've just sustained it for longer periods). We've got the best-marking, hard-running and long-kicking forward in the league and one of the best-running midfields (average 30 more handball receives than our opponents this year, no-one comes close). We're not that far off Port in terms of disposal efficiency and skill level. Our defence will get tested, but I reckon our biggest issue is the fact it's at a venue that we've had such little success at in over 100 years.

Haven't looked forward to an SANFL match as much as this since our final against them in 2006. This game means a lot for our season. Whatever they're called/badged now, they're still the same Port Adelaide Magpies that I've despised for so long. Carn South. :D

I think you've got it the wrong way around; they're not badged differently at all. It's everything else that's different.

I don't know why I am even replying because if you even have to type that then you are obviously not capable of understanding much but here goes anyway....

They did it under the same conditions as every other team in the SANFL. Port have a completely different set of rules and salary cap to the other clubs. This is why it is unfair.
