Bigger fish to fry on Sunday, but a magnificent player whose fitness, hardness at the ball and skill has been on display since he first arrived half way through last season. So consistent and has slotted in beautifully to what was already a strong Eagles midfield.

Well done to Bryce Gibbs as well. I remember his first season and being lured to a Bays vs Port game at Glenelg just to see what this kid could do on a football field at that age. Always a smooth mover and to win the Magarey after having such a long career at AFL level is testament to his football ability and commitment to his team and craft.

For the SANFL to still attract the quality of player of these two men is great for the competition. To combine that with exciting future AFL champions such as Horne-Francis and to still have dedicated 200 game players running around for various clubs, both from a local background and recruits who have made Adelaide home from interstate, makes the SANFL competition stand out from the rest.

My spot at oval ave I’ve watched Tsitas play some awesome games . Last game against Port he out played an AFL listed player I won’t name the player but he’s been delisted . Was a great effort by Tsitas that day among many played by Tsitas

Tsitas 31 SANFL games 1 x premiership 1 x Magarey

Won't be done again.

Not that impossible. If you get a gun ex AFL recruit they could potentially win the Magarey/Premiership in their first year.

Paul Thomas was a 2 x premiership player and Magarey Medalist inside his first 50 SANFL games at a guess, maybe as little as 30-40 games if he had injuries in the 2003-2004 season.

Well done to both Gibbs and Tsitas.

Very deserving.

Hopefully we can retain Gibbs for 2022. He has really been great for the club and mentor for the young kids coming through the system (Horne-Francis, Roberts and Draper to name a few). He has also really settled in well at South and always comes up to our supporters for a chat in the club. He has definitely embraced the South culture and values.

Hopefully we can go one further in 2022 and win that premiership !

2004 GF was game number 65 for Thomas.

I agree it's not impossible, but it's hard to think of many who've won a Magarey AND premiership that early in their career.

Jars springs to mind, but now that I think of it he'd have had to have played 60+ as well.

Considering Gibbs was a listed player in 2021, can Crows claim him as a Magarey Medallist?

Congratulations to both winners of the Magary Medal. But from an Eagles perspective, can anyone suggest a player like Jack Hayes, who had 6 best on ground, and 1 second best, and still missed out on the medal? And for the Anzac Day game against North, the medal winner on that day didn't get a vote from the umpires.

Fair point but I think the Umps got it right that day. Jack Hayes was bog easily base on his around the ground and he was the main ruckman.

The Shearman medal is far more relevant than the umpires award.

In my opinion it does not rate.

The same top five players in both awards so shows the coaches and umpires on same page.

With such a close vote in both of them could have gone either way.

Nobody remembers the Shearman Medal past winners but could tell you who won the Magarey medal, enough said

Was the Shearman Medal always voted on by the Coach's? Didn't it use to be the Football Budget award?

Hard to see that getting beaten.

Matty Thomas did alright with a flag and Magarey in his 45 games at the Parade.

Always the coaches since it's inception around 2000.

That seems to be a bit of sour grapes after The Night of Nights. Didn't you have enough sugar on your cornflakes this morning?

How would a South supporter saying the Shearman Medal is more relevant sour grapes when a South player won the Margarey and not the Shearman? :?
