My favourite away game of the season, possibly due to our record there and the promise of a half time curry.

Of the last 20 games at Prospect, Glenelg have won 13 and there has been 1 draw. Norf's last win was in 2016.

Even in 2013 when the Bays finished bottom with only 4 wins, 1 of those wins was at Prospect by 67pts.

*Norf won 2 games at Glenelg in 2013 by 58 & 87 points.

Definitely Adelaide Oval.

Just looked it up and surprising to me they used both:

I could be wrong be I was under the impression that for the first couple of decades of the 20th century, West played elsewhere - I thought Jubilee Oval. I was also of the impression that North played all their home games, at least in the 20th century, at Adelaide Oval till they moved to Prospect.

I wouldn't have thought that more than two clubs could really use it for all their home games (i.e. you couldn't really have more than one game on it per round, subject to the odd round with public holidays etc.).

I made the mistake of using the discredited SANFL history which virtually states football stats start here in 1907, hence saying that West's home ground was always Adelaide Oval other than the those pre second World War Years.
From 1904 until 1921 North used Adelaide so that meant 3 of the 7 teams had Adelaide as their home from 1907 until 1921. I don't know how that worked other than Jubilee or Kensington or both must have been used as neutral venues.
North (or Medindee) had used Kensington and Jubilee as their home at various times in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Not surprising Thebby and Prospect are a similar age, when games were played at Thebby I always thought it had the most similar feel and atmosphere to Prospect. Those 2 along with Norwood would be my favs.

Interestingly, both ovals run SW - NE rather than true N S.

It makes sense from a footy perspective to have the oval running that way. The sun would set more or less on centre wing during the winter months.

Do the show grounds still have a full sized oval. Surface up to standard for an SANFL game?

Like your posts Aerie but I think that's not a good idea. Thebby is an aging ground, poor spectator facilities and poor parking. We lose a home ground advantage and the painted chimney is not as good as the Premiership cup and Flag at Woodville.
Prospect is the current home of NA and 100 years there is fantastic.

Agree, as much as I love Thebby and the history that comes with it, that Horse has bolted.
It offers nothing to the new Eagles except additional costs we can't afford.
The "old Eagles" lunches, now held at our home base, are fantastic opportunities to reminisce about a bygone era.

If it was the 86 reunion, then North won by about 4 goals, it wasn't an on-the-siren affair. I remember that being an excellent game, high-scoring and free-flowing, just like the halcyon days of the '80s. Remember hearing that the third quarter produced 16 goals (?) between the teams, which was the most ever kicked in a quarter at Glenelg.

(edit) just did some research, it was the second quarter, and it was 18 goals: 8 Glenelg to 10 North.

If ever there was a different bloke on this planet it was Ian Perrie,

Glenelg by 15 goals.
