Yeh, I thought Beard held Austin. Hard to see here of course but on the close up you could see Beard holding Austin's left arm across his throat/neck area.

Yeah I thought Beard grabbed Austins arm as well.

Experience V Youth with experience winning out in the end.

Only if Brett Eddy gave a shit. Good bye.

Typical Port supporter comment "eating their own" once again. A Port tradition.

Brett Eddy 2017 Ken Farmer medalist, gets beaten by Fraser Evans, add tight defensive work by Sturt and poor delivery by Port players.
....but Summos all good. (Our little love child who publicly bagged the club!)

Blames one player for their loss.

$hit you Port supporters make me laugh.....

Hope he returns to Panther land in 2018 where he would be welcome with open arms, without given false promises.

Sad these days that people are so obsessed with social media that the only way to judge a person is based on a few comments.

Nobody said Eddy was to blame, his commitment and efforts were questioned and they weren't up to Port Adelaide standards, he was given a golden opportunity this year most would dream of but wasn't willing to work on his weaknesses and it showed on Sunday

There didn't appear to be much feeling out on the ground to me.

Only in the last 10 mins when Port drew close did there appear to be any excitement about the game.

Heard a few people mention this and I'm genuinely staggered...I thought it was never less than riveting throughout. No feeling out there? Man, I don't remember seeing 4 quarters of absolute desperation like that, especially in the midfield battles. Port threatened to break away at any moment and the way the Sturt defence worked its guts out to shut them and Eddy down, and then defend the smallest of margins, was breathtaking IMO. Riley was spent and came off and collapsed in the third term, before saddling up and going again. Was like the 12th round in a prizefight - certainly not pretty but there was beauty in the ugliness.

Watched the replay yesterday and despite Timmy G saying it was a shit GF, I felt the same way about it.

Did I blame one player for the loss? Interesting. Read the below, I'll await your reply.

Booney wrote:Ah Chee was one of our best I thought, he did though have a "what if" game. As I said above he got some good delivery, got first hand on the ball and got pinged by 2 or more tacklers. Credit to Sturt, they killed us on the inside.

White, pfft, don't start me on him. I said 5 years ago we won't win a ( AFL ) premiership with people like him on our list. He was ordinary yesterday.

I think Toumpas, Snellling, Ah Chee, Atley, Summerton and Lobbe ( in no particular order ) could hold their heads up.

Young, Howard, Johnson, White, Neade, Bonner, Eddy and a lesser extent Palmer and Sharrod didn't give us much.

PS - I'm glad we make you laugh, something in football at least gives you some joy. :D

Was a 50/50 that never gets paid to the defender, even if he does mark the ball. ;)

As noted above, experience vs youth and we know what will win out more often than not. For mine I reckon Beard had a fair piece of Austin, in the end Austin probably won the strength battle as he threw Beard aside but Beard won the smarts battle by playing in front.

See Kane Cornes having a dig at the free kick count in this mornings print media

Well at least one Cornes has made a post match comment to the media.

Yes, disappointed to not hear from the Magpies coach. While I'm sure he's extremely disappointed to not give any comments is ordinary at best.

Even on the PAFC website it was Shane Grimm commenting on the game and not C.Cornes.

For god's sake Kane, it's not about your brother. Complete disrespect shown to a lot of people. He wants football to nourish him and his family for now and for ever no doubt but happy to trash the code if brother is upset.

None of them were up to Port Adelaide magpie standards, too much Power in them, a few players right out of the 2007 playbook

If you throw someone without the ball, it's a free kick

The snippet on the SANFL grand final is good for a chuckle.

As for his brother not fronting the media, little surprise given the Cornes’ are prone to the odd bout of petulance.

Also the free kick to Beard late in the game had to be paid. Austin has been known to have a bit to say to the mild mannered folk who congregate at the Noarlunga race, so I wasn’t unhappy seeing it paid. ;)
