The role the commissioners played in all of this shouldn't be ignored.

They're the ones who'll head off into their alcoholic dotage in comfy chairs at Adelaide Oval, patting themselves on the back all the way.

Be interesting to know if any of the commissioners profited personally from the decision to allow the reserves teams in, whispers are that this might be the case.

Apparently Kurt Slaven is going to be the next appointee to the SANFL Commission.

There's not a big enough eye rolling emoticon in the world that could better sum up in pictorial form what I thought when I read that a few weeks back.

Laughable.

Even if you removed all the shocked emoticons in the world and added them together

Article in today's paper saying Central and North have had a 10% decline in membership directly attributable to the reserves.

Did they question how many jumped off due to poor on field performances?

Wouldnt 90% of memberships be sold well before the season starts?
I personally dont know anyone who supports any club that waits until the season has started to buy memberships

Memberships declined by more than 10% so they are not just blaming the Reserves.

I would say yes, most memberships would be purchased pre season, but I wouldn't think 90%. Purely speculative, but I would think sides that start 5-1 would have people jump on and in turn, sides that start 1-5 would hardly see any growth throughout the year.

Glenelg tend to have slower renewals than other clubs, accounted for by the bandwagonners, so definitely far less than 90% when the season starts.

Personally I think most of Centrals decline would be due to financial constraints at the moment. Most people don't have a lot of spare cash these days. Memberships would be one of those non-essential things that would get dropped. Completely understandable.

I do know that the club fielded a lot of calls about the reserves issue. What do they say if one person takes the time to complain about something there are another 100 that feel the same.

Didn't renew my GLENELG membership as I said at the beginning of the season due to the reserves comp. Didn't attend one game for the same reason.
YET NOT ONE PHONE CALL FROM THE CLUB TO CHASE ME FOR MY MEMBERSHIP OR WHY I DIDN'T RENEW.

AND THEY WONDER WHY CROWDS ARE DOWN?????????????????

WILL ONLY RENEW WHEN THE AFL IS OUT OF THE SANFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :butthead: :butthead: :butthead:

Absolutely financial pressure takes its toll on families and things like footy club memberships are very much the first thing to go.

This article from 20th of March shows West Adelaide at just 32 below their 2013 figure yet today's paper talks of a decline in their membership attributable to the reserves teams.

Someone is telling porkies.

I'm sure they know that crowds are down because people turned their backs on the club

So you clearly stated that you weren't going to renew, and subsequently didn't, and also didn't attend any games.

So what exactly would have been the point of the club calling you?

If today's article is by Kym Morgan ( I don't have a paper to check ) then I would suggest it would suit his agenda, which I might add, I often agree with. However I often disagree with the manner in which he approaches it.

( Footnote - I would be surprised by any article that closely aligned to the SANFL would be by anyone but Morgan )
