723 x 32 = aprox 23,000 short

- You could say half of that was due to the ANZAC Day wash out
Last years Nwd v NA & Glen v Crows games attracting a total of 19,313
This years PA v Nwd & Glen v Crows games 7,657
Different .... 11,656

- As for the other 11,500 I think it is a combination of the following
- Later start of the season (April 12 for some clubs)
- Poorer weather
- Crows novelty factor gone (eg Rd 1 2014 v North 4,015 compared with Rd 1 2015 v North 2,465)
- Dwindling media coverage (axing of Sunday FIVEaa SANFL show an example)
- Drop off in support from traditional supporters.[/quote]
Or the product is crap!

I dont buy this washout for GF replay crap, last year there was abnormal results because of the Tex Factor at the Bay and this year there was many more games celebrating Anzac Day the night before or day after.
The crowds are shit purely and simply because the AFL novelty has worn off and its a sign of things to come, most of us in the know about the SANFL called it mid last year and got told we wrong by an ignorant minority.

I think there were more anomalies last year than this year. Crows v Glenelg Tex factor game and the country showdown pulled big crowds that won't happen regularly. If you remove the 3 or 4 biggest crowds from last year the numbers probably come out about the same.

The SANFL is a lost cause while it has Reserves teams playing. I'm not sure if I'd care to return even if it reverted back to 8 teams, but that is because I personally feel the Eagles have lost their identity with the change of zone. The competition as a whole though would at least be fair dinkum.

I don't know how the system works but if you want this to change, does your club's constitution allow you to generate enough members support to do a spill and fill at the board level and then vote in people that will vote no.

Anybody know the crowd number between cd and Glenelg Anzac Day 2009, at the "old" Adelaide oval? Probably the worst weather at a game I've been to. Was blowing a gale all game.

Agree

I reckon the changing of zones is also a huge element in the attendance drops.

Especially from people involved in ammo clubs, a lot of times the reason a lot of people have an interest in their local SANFL club is because it gives them oppurtunities to watch 'their' player play for a club they have interest in, with the zones splitting up a lot of these clubs have players playing for sanfl clubs there amatuer club traditionally hasn't had any association with

Most of it revolves around the reserves teams coming in imho.

When we had a sprinkling of AFL players spread across the SANFL teams, it made the quality better and it was great watching ex juniors come back to the club when they couldn't play for the Crows or Power.

No increase in Salary Cap has means that we are missing one or two players that might add some extra quality.

Two different rules for the reserves teams is an obvious one that annoys many, the Power have been gifted a lot of exceptions.

A couple of other things for me that would improve things.

Too many night games, the novelty has gone we should be playing more games during the day spread out over the weekend.

Prices are too high, should be $10.

I'd like to see double headers at Adelaide Oval tried.

For now we should be changing the Powers structure to be the same as the Crows. Eventually they can both piss off and play in the VFL hopefully but for now, make both models the same, it's an obvious mistake.

About 15 to 20 minutes ago, the CH 7 announcers referred to the leaders of the current AFL league ladder as ‘INTERSTATERS’.
Funny, I thought the ‘so-called’ AFL was calling itself the ‘Australian Football League’.
Truth will out I guess !!!

Jake Parkinson apparently rang up and blasted Kris Grant after reading his comments in the Advertiser this week. Of course Kris blasted him right back. I didn't read the article in question but apparently it was creatively edited and wasn't what Kris Grant had said. Anyway after the Channel 9 story ran Jake had to ring back Kris and apologise.

What right does he have to ring Kris up and have a crack at him anyway?

a) Shouldn't Kris be able to say or do whatever he believes is in his clubs best interest?
b) Shouldn't Jake and his fellow SANFL cohorts be working FOR the clubs within the competition?
