Mervyn Keane ????

Has a cushy job at Essendon on decent coin. As far as I know he is going on again next year

I would've said Sticks Phillips, but he categorically said no to the North job.

Rick Davies? ;)

Little Timmy? Teaching not working out?

Could be he loves Sturt more Jim. He fits the criteria described by Heater.

Come to think of it, probably not a 'servant', nor 'loyal' for that matter. How long did he last out at Unley (I think it was 1991)?

92? Played less than 1 season....maybe a hand full of games

Nope your right, 91 it was. Think he got sacked for playing an exhibition game back in Melbourne when supposedly injured.

I'm sad to say that he did get sacked for feigning injury in order to play a "legends" game for Carlton on the same weekend. Let us down badly, was paid a packet and just didn't put in. I think the pace of SANFL surprised him, perhaps thought he was going to make an easy pay cheque then couldn't keep up.
One of a number of poor decisions made at Unley at the time.

Could Haydn Bunton Jr be persuaded to come back for a second stint??? I have a feeling he has unfinished business at Unley Oval.......

I'm not sure that either of the 78 year olds you've mentioned would be long term coaching prospects for the club.
