Crows (presumably) knew the rules re eligibility and still picked C E-Y to play last Friday against West Coast.
They went outside the criteria for their own club's benefit, which to me doesn't add up to extenuating circumstances.

"He deserves to play"  He's NOT ELIGIBLE regardless of how "deserving".
And you make it sound like the crows are doing Centrals a favour by not playing Sloane & Smith - they wouldn't dare.
Staggering.

Like they were going to risk them getting injured in a comp they don't give two shits about. Should Centrals be forever grateful for the Cows wonderful show of humanity? Nice try clown.

They will do what is required for their senior team, Seedsman is in the same boat as Smith and Sloane in that hes played a majority of the season in the AFL but guarentee he will play SANFL

Great stuff from Roy. wonder if he will get sanctioned by the SANFL

"We always knew the SANFL would bend over, whatever Adelaide and Port want they get".

Seedsman is eligible as he did not play AFL last week. So now who is the flog?

The bottom line here is that this was an absolutely common sense decision by the SANFL. CEY has missed two SANFL games all season and replaced a suspended player otherwise it would have been one. The permit system is in place for exactly this sort of situation, so it is completely within the rules and by no means an abuse of the system. Absolutely the right and logical call.

The bottom line is there are different rules and different conditions for clubs in the same competition.
The Crows are a lazy club who don't care about alienating people as they have a core group of plastic morons who will always fill their seats.

A quick question: do the Port Power Reserves have the same finals qualification rules as the Crows, in particular the permit rule?

Brilliant words and 100% truth from Roy Laird. It's a pity a few other clubs don't have people that have the guts to say the same thing publicly especially as so many say it privately.

Logical if you see things purely from a Crows point of view.

Moreover, what are the criteria that the SANFL have to consider in making such a decision, and more importantly, what is the league's justification for overturning CEY's ineligibility? Surely it's not an automatic approval simply based on the request of the Crows. Centrals must have some right of reply. They must be afforded procedural fairness, the right to at least plead their case that the addition of CEY is unwarranted given the Crows must be presumed to have known the effect of picking him against West Coast, and now want to have their cake and eat it too.

But youre quite happy for Seedsman to play even though he hardly played SANFL. Common sense would also mean he is ineligible as it does for Sloane and Smith. You cant work your logic both ways, hypocritical flog

The SANFL is run by a bunch of benders

I laugh at Crows supporters who can be proud and happy of that when it is so clear what there club has done to the SANFL
