Cheers

My money would be on round 3 but I hope I'm wrong

Surely we’ll be back to suburban grounds come round 3.

Correct.

It is official that crowds of up to 500 are allowed from Round 2.
That means a full crowd for any match between Central, West, South and/or the Eagles... sorry about you Norwood, North, Glenelg and Sturt supporters who will have to take it in turns ;)

It's OK, I have 2 memberships with 2 season passes so I'm sure we will be given priority. :D

I think it will be soon now with the announcement today that crowds can come back . The SANFL would have known it was a chance so now can probably get it organised. I wonder if the first 2 rounds will still be at AO ? Obviously R1 will be .

With no Port in the comp this year, which would be the biggest rivalries?

Norwood/Glenelg has always been decent and likewise Norwood/Sturt

I’ve akways considered the Bays and North as rivals. Can add Norwood-Cebtrals too I’d imagine?

If you go crowds as a guide, Sturt V Port were the biggest rivals. With them gone Sturt V Norwood would be easily the biggest .

Agree with JK , add Glenelg with those 3 and Glenelg V North maybe. Sadly West, Eagles and South dont provide much .

Speaking of South . Listening to Wright on SANFL website he referred to training in groups of 9 and they are called care groups . Interesting name .

Doesn’t Norwood just take port’s place as the most successful therefore most hated team that everyone loves to beat?
On a personal level, I’m mates with heaps of Eagles supporters so that’s a good friendly rivalry for me.
The South vs Glenelg close(ish) proximity rivalry has had some fantastic games especially last year when there was a draw at Glenelg and a nail biting South win at Noarlunga, add the reigning premiers in and it should be even better!

I reckon the Eagles have had a pretty good rivalry with the Bulldogs over the last 20 odd years.

With the potential clash of SANFL Grand Final with the cricket at Adelaide Oval - why are the SANFL not beginning their season a week earlier on June 20? Is there any good reason why this still can not happen? June 20 and June 27 at Adelaide Oval and then crowds back at suburban venues for Round 3.

Just following advice of the Health experts .That was released a couple of weeks ago and its just not that simple. The potential clash was addressed a week ago. It a very complex issue and not that easy.

Re rivalries - there has only been one huge crowd at a minor round game in recent memory and that was Glenelg vs Sturt. Not sure why that game in particular? All the stars must have aligned.

In terms of support - Norwood would be fairly comfortably the biggest club I'd imagine.

Then Sturt and Glenelg.

Then North and Central.

Then Eagles, West and South.

Enough history between all the clubs for the top few performing teams to generate public interest.

If I was in charge of fixturing a rivalry round, I'd have:

Glenelg vs North
Norwood vs Sturt
Eagles vs Central
South vs West

I missed that. What is the answer re the potential clash at Adelaide Oval? I would've thought it would be as simple as going back to the health experts early next week, if there are still 0 cases and asking to play Round 1 a week earlier to avoid the clash. In the meantime, flag that possibility with the clubs.

Things are still changing rapidly. At the point we put in a GF date Cricket Australia released a program the same afternoon. No its not simple. Hang tight and it will be released as time goes.

I think you’re right Aerie, all clubs have been around long enough to have enough rivalry with the others.

Not sure about that JK.

I can only go on crowd numbers and members . Sturt I believe are around the 4k mark.
Hard to measure except for crowd numbers . North V Norwood GF as an example had more than the last Norwood V Port. Sure it was awhile since North had been involved. Norwood V Port in 97 had I think a bit less than that in 97 ?????
The only club that would attract a larger than usual crowd is South for the novelty factor.
Depends on what you define as rivalry I guess. I take as a team you love to beat and a big crowd that follows.

SANFL rivalries IMO
Glenelg v North, Norwood, Sturt
Norwood v Sturt
Centrals v WWT
