Think SACA may have offered him rookie contract, but put all his eggs in the footy basket and now left with neither.

Did not have great Under 18 Carnival, not sure he works hard enough. Talent only gets you so far. Has not played any cricket for Woodville this year.

Maybe just needs to have good year for Eagles and hope to picked up next year. Doubt he will make it in cricket.

Yeah the draft snob will catch him off guard no doubt. His been playing cricket for Brinkworth this year so far but could easily go back to Woodville or another district club no doubt.

Will be interesting to see if thats what he does or if he knuckles down and has a red hot crack at playing SANFL league in 2024.

Talking to a good friend of Weckert's last night he said Weckert was still very unsure where his sporting career will head, was told he still has an open ended contract with the SACA which he can activate. "Eagles2014" might know more.

West pick up midfielder Brady Searle from Glenelg.

I know he always plays well against us in the reserves, any Glenelg people with their opinion?

Was unlucky not to play in the senior GF team this year. Missed out probably more because of league team stability than any other reason. Would have been a first-choice starter in the senior team next year. I am disappointed he chose to move on. Very good pick up by the Bloods.

Correct Ferret, he was offered rookie contract this year with SACA but decided he would choose AFL. Assume he would need to start playing well for Woodville to be offered the chance again.

They all come back wanting best chance to play in premiership in next year or two, why they never go back to West as they are miles away still.

Hearing that, maybe a key forward mate too.

The Central District Football Club is delighted to announce our 5th new signing of the off season in North Launceston & Tassie Devils Key Forward, Oscar Harper.

For those who enjoy our SANFL history, Oscar is the grandson of former Bulldog key position player, Bruce Stevenson. Bruce played 72 games for Hawthorn in the then VFL from 1969-1974 before a stint at the West Adelaide FC 1975-1978. In 1979 Bruce became a Doggie playing 32 games & kicking 38 goals in what he describes as two wonderful fulfilling years at the kennel.

Oscar 18 is a chip off the old block being strongly built and still climbing at 194cm, he has a high work ethic as well as a strong desire to continually develop his game to a high level. Oscar finished 3rd in 2023 Rodney Eade Medal which is awarded to the best Development league player (U18) as voted on by the umpires in the TSL. Oscar went to Scotch Oakburn College in Launceston, Tasmania where he was a boarder and produced some outstanding football for his school.

Football Manager Mark Ross had the following to say about Oscar.

“Oscar is still young and will be given some time to develop his craft as a key forward. He is a very strong mark, reliable kick and most importantly, a wonderful human. Oscar’s performance for North Launceston to finish 3rd in the Rodney Eade medal is significant as he missed a handful of games due to injury & College football commitments”.

Can everyone please welcome Oscar to the Ponderosa.

West Adelaide have announced on their website that Will Snelling has signed with Sturt, before any announcement from the Double Blues.

Ouch, that always hurts. I still can't forgive Sam Colquhoun and Marty Mckinnon.

It was just the last line in a statement about players, then informing supporters of his decision as most hoped he would play at home where he won a premiership

The club had hoped that Bonner (redrafted) and Snelling would be back but given our lack of success it is understandable. M

Just got to keep plugging away

Eagles new recruit

Here’s a great way to enter the weekend…

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cameron Fleeton, a 192cm intercept defender.

Drafted out of the Geelong Falcons, Cam has spent the past 3 seasons at the GWS Giants in the AFL, and was a member of the 2023 VFL team of the year.

We can’t wait to see the 22 year old in Eagles colours in 2024, so join us in welcoming Cameron Fleeton to our Club.
