good appointment.........

Torney has had plenty of experience at 2 AFL clubs and was a good player.........

that experience is invaluable........

how he goes as a coach time ill tell........

but!!!!!.......

what if in 2-3 years time Torney replaces Fuller at South?

the footy gods work in mysterious ways!.......

Darren Pfieffer not being retained by Calrton on their rookie list in season 2010, I' sure the Redlegs will be keen to get him back to the Parade...

Jason Torney an astute pick up by the Eagles. Quality person, a leader, current AFL and SANFL knowledge, good mentoring skills for the younger players. Good to see the Eagles being pro-active for a change. Would still like to see Sam Jacobs come home if de-listed by Carlton.

Bassett was apparently trying to get Torney to Norwood.

There is no way he will get delisted. Carlton rate him highly and want him to be there no. 1 ruck so they can play Cloke and Kreuzer forward.

If Carlton think so highly of Jacobs why have they left him on the rookie list for three years. Not shown as a delisting yet but has to be automatically taken off as a rookie now, waiting to see if he is upgraded.

I know that Trengove is the highest-profile, but you'll need to list a whole bunch of players as 'outs' if you're deleting them from their club in anticipation of the draft. Matthew Panos is the one from Norwood who is a certainty to be drafted. I'd suggest it's a whole lot simpler to list players as outs only when they actually leave.

PS Rumour on Norwood 'legs forum that both Darren Pfeiffer and Cleve Hughes (ex-Norwood, just delisted by Richmond) have set up shop in Queensland. Hopefully not true.

Yeah, it is a valid point mate, but I guess the reason I only listed Trengove as an OUT and not any others is that he is a certainty to go interstate to Melbourne. There are some possibilites, albeit slim and varying, that a heap of other potential draftees could be picked up by either the Crows or Power and remain in Adelaide with their local SANFL club.

Bassett was asked on Radio about former AFL players likely to be delisted like Pfeiffer and Hughes.

His response was we are only going to welcome quality people to norwood.

This to me implied, Pfeiffer, no way in hell do I want him at Norwood.

If I recall correctly Jacobs was delisted from Carlton's rookie list at the end of 2008 but then picked up again in the rookie draft. I'm not too familiar with the rules on rookie listing but I'm guessing if he didn't play a game in his first season before being delisted, then his two years starts again from when he is redrafted.

He was upgraded Carlton's main list earlier this year and played a few games.

Not surprised about Westy, was always going to be difficult after two years out of the SANFL system.
Disappointed that Heir won't be back. Has the potential to be the leading full-back in the SANFL over the next 7-10 years IMO.
