probably because those supporters of the 8 teams want to find out things like when our grand final will be played and how much of the draw is programmed around when the crows and port power are playing their afl games. Saddened by the fact we play our first home game against the port power reserves team would like to have unfurled our premiership flag against and SANFL team but I guess I can't complain, we did vote yes.

Yeah boo hoo that for the 15th straight year Port Adelaide are boosting another teams coffers by opening the season with an away game.

I've written before, you lot will complain about anything!

Not the 15th straight, that 2011 game at AAMI Stadium v Norwood was a Port home game.

I for one always hang out for the season fixture.

Obviously the sooner I know the Eagles home games the earlier I can slot in the theme days and start the planning.

But even outside of that the SANFL fixture helps me put some context of events into the new year ahead.

I will always complain about people who lie without shame.

Bad luck on only having one rubbish team to support this year instead of your normal two.

Won't be much "boosting" as of next year.

Oh, good. 14 out of 15 opening games played away. That makes it OK then.

From the list you gave in the other thread (which is correct), it also says Port had games at Alberton in 2002 and 2004...so 3 home games out of the last 14 seasons played. This table below will show who gets more home games to start with than not:

SANFL opening matches 2000-2013
(note, 2012 only counts the first week as opening matches)
Team, Home, Away, Other, Bye
Central 6 5 0 3
Eagles 3 7 1 3
Glenelg 5 6 0 3
North 6 4 0 4
Norwood 10 2 1 1
Port 3 9 1 1
South 11 2 0 1
Sturt 2 10 0 2
West 5 6 1 2

*Other is the double header played in Round 1 2000 at Football Park
*Home matches include South home vs Eagles at Encounter Bay, 2007; Port vs Norwood at Football Park, 2011; Eagles vs Port at Thebarton, 2012

Interesting facts about opening round matches is that South have played every Round 1 match at home from 2000 except 2001 and 2011 at Woodville and 2007 at Encounter Bay. Sturts home match to start last year was their first since 2000. Norwood opened with a home match every year from 2001 to 2009

Thanks Spelly.
I think that puts it into perspective. Never crossed my mind to whinge about something so trivial, yet Beeny has carried this "Port propping up the league with 1st round away games" theory across multiple threads now.
Guess some people will whinge about anything.
Poor old Port. :( :( :(

Of course a Sturt supporter wouldn't complain about no season openers at Unley. Erecting that fence to keep out the dog walkers means Sturt home games run at a loss.

With the 2011 opening game originally scheduled for the Parade but swapped to allow the game at FootyPark, someone is cashing in on Port Adelaide. But sure aint Port adelaide!

2014 - Norwood at the Parade
2013 - Norwood at the Parade
2011 - Norwood at Footy Park
2009 - Norwood at the Parade
2007 - Norwood at the Parade
2003 - Norwood at the Parade

They're going to have the some number of home games over the season anyway, what does the fence have to do with it?

Took the words right out of my mouth.
Like trying to explain algebra to a pomeranian.

Or explaining the Port situation to a Port supporter.

Surely you didn't need so many words to say, "I was caught out lying about 15 years in a row of away games in round 1, then when that lie was pointed out, I lied again by claiming that it was 14 out of 15 opening games played away".

Thought of actually researching before you post, rather than just spouting bullshit and leaving it to others to look up the facts and call 'bullshit' on you?

I wrote 15 years to make a point. Research wouldn't have been difficult because I listed the games in another Thread. But feel free to be pedantic if you like. =D>
