Are you honestly being serious saying that?

Surely you would get no satisfaction from your side dominating a competition with clearly unfair advantaged over the rest of their competitors?

Lol home brewing and playing golf. How's that working for ya. Surely you spill half of it walking around the course, let alone when you are Teeing off

I wanted to choose option two but couldn't do it...so option three it was.

Id say that would be most ppl

Yep. That's spot on for me Jimmy. Except substitute Sturt for North.
Unfortunately one of those teams we are disregarding is likely to win the flag.

Dutchy. Pretty pointless question as everyone would probably know what the answer to question was. I think a poll asking posters if their interest would increase if the two reserve sides were kicked out of the AFL, would be more pertinent.

I'd start a new thread with that poll if I knew how :D

What i will say though is that i stil cant see how making yourself a reserves comp makes you more relevant than being the best league outside of the AFL.

Cheers.

I don't know how serious the possibility of Adelaide and Port playing in the ammos was, its probably irrelevant now, but had it happened what could the fall out have been? Wonder what the discussions on here would have been about?
Port are the pacesetters now, maybe it makes the other 9 teams in the comp improve in the same way Centrals did for 12 years (in broad terms, clearly some things cant be matched for 8 teams)

This concept that the real 8 SANFL Clubs should improve, step up, or any other bullshit expression, to match the pace Port are setting is utter bollocks. Port have an unfair advantage over all if the 8 SANFL clubs by having their own rules.

Maybe they should breach the salary cap and then at the SANFL hearing use the defence of we were just trying to compete with the magpies......

Yeah, hearing this from media morons (McDermott etc) really shits me also. I heard one Power supporter justify things by saying that all the opposition coaches have said they've learnt alot from the pasting the Power have given their side, so this is good for SANFL footy.

I was speaking with an ex-Magpie player and coach this week. Even he said it's not fair and the only solution is to get rid of the Crows and Power or for the SANFL to increase the salary cap and give money to the other clubs to fund this.

I asked him if Port were embarrassed by being handed such an advantage. He said they were surprised and realise that it is not a good look for the competition or them as a club.

What would you do if/when your kids play in Glenelg's reserves or league teams?

Of course I'd go. But I'd be supporting them, not the competition. And it wouldn't matter which club they played for (they know not to play for Port under any circumstances). ;)

Plenty of people whining about the death of their competition, and then making it a self fulfilling prophecy by not going to any games.

Complete and utter ignorance of the whole situation. Members warned the clubs this would happen, and now it is. Perhaps best shown by the membership figures, and it will show in attendances before long.

If they didn't and still attended, you'd be lol'ing about how they were idle threats.

It is a fair point, and don't worry, something I was struggling with last year and over summer - that my club needed more now than ever against the feeling of being betrayed by it/it's representative, the member meeting shams, the SANFL and what must have gone on behind the scenes.
I thought at the time I'd give it a couple of years to see how it went, and when I used to get my membership renewal there was a small excitement that footy season wasn't too far away, but this year I didn't feeling a thing.

So Glenelg suffer and the competition would unlikely notice you missing. Well played.

Not sure increasing the salary cap of the other clubs is any sort of solution. They still won't attract AFL players to leave their employment and join them. Quality players from other competitions will cost them heaps on terms of transfer fees and some clubs would go broke trying to pay any more than they do now.
