I'm pretty sure we've had double headers before and the SANFL is aware of that. It's a good idea, but so is slicing bread, but that's nothing revolutionary. ;)

I think it's a great idea to have all 4 games on the same day in an SANFL carnival as the season opener.
Weather would usually be good. All the other ideas put forward, membership and merchandising booths. Maybe even get a few legends from each club to turn out.

4 games in one day is too much for the average spectator but you'd think a lot would turn up for 2 or maybe 3.

Great opportunity to promote the SANFL and get some members signed up.

Well stated, it is exactly what I was thinking when I posted earlier. Well done to who thought up the idea of merchandising booths.

Why not just rent Wembley Arena and play it there?

Love that people are thinking outside the square at ways to increase interest in the comp and give clubs a great platform to increase memberships etc.

For me, I'd probably tend to be more in favour of two double headers, one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. I guess my main concern would be that it would be pretty rough on the clubs that would have to play a game starting at 11am on the Saturday morning. Saturday mornings are often a busy time for families these days, with kids sport etc, so that game would likely have a very low attendance, and therefore the two clubs involved in game one would likely get little or nothing out of it. One possible way around this could be to launch the season on the Sunday prior to the Adelaide Cup day Monday holiday, although this would make for a rather early season launch, and could also create an issue for oval availability due to Cricket.

and imagine that all attending the triple header at Adelaide Oval can then watch the big screen that the SANFL will hire to watch Port and Adelaide belt the living suitcases out of eachother whilst enjoying a few frothies $$$$

And if I were to ask whufc ?

It is a serious question, as there are significant costs when opening up the oval.

You mean those costs that are often ignored when AFL clubs whinge about dodgy stadium deals?
