No most of us still support our club, just from elsewhere than the home ground mound.

My $ go to my local grassroots club now, that where I get my live footy fix.

Only 10 years ago I'd go to every game, even went to trial games interstate and never missed a game despite living 45 minutes away from Prospect. Only 3 years ago I was a part of the President's Group which cost me thousands of dollars a year. The two games I've been to this year are the Good Friday game as there was nothing else to do and the game at Noarlunga to catch up with my daughter who is a physio there.
This is what having teams in a comp play under different rules has done for me, have gone from a fanatic who went above and beyond the cause to someone who no longer cares.

I'm not quite at that stage yet but bloody close...with byes, split rounds, and non-attendance at the training cone games it's been rare to have attended consecutive games this year > passion wilting

Fair enough too mate.
That's one thing the SANFL have also become, unaffordable...when the quality of the SFL and Adelaide Footy League div 1/2 is almost just as good, free entry, reasonable priced food and drink, family atmosphere, club feel etc.

I wonder if we will get to the stage where the SANFL is embedded into the AdFL as the Premier League?

Agree, I've said this a few times on this thread actually.

Have wondered about this myself.
I hope it never happens. But, you never know.

I would rather that than the current set up

It would further dilute club loyalties.

Just as people had to choose between the Crows/Power over their old VFL club and spend their money there rather than their money/time/emotions on their SANFL club, then choose whether to support the Crows/Power over their club in the SANFL, they'd then have to choose between their SANFL club and their SAAFL club. Not good.

Why would so many people give up on something they love & has been such an important part of their lives?
Calling it an excuse is insulting & so far off the mark it's not funny.

Well said Spargo.
Geez I have been waiting for an excuse to stop following this league/club that I have loved my entire life. That is why I come on here complaining about it.
See 2 plus 3 equals 7, right? It all makes sense if you choose to let the corporations do the thinking for you.

Guilt from who? Me?
I think my views on this topic are clear...and guilt does not come into it!

In a roundabout way, yes. Adelaide were the ones pushing and pushing for the changes, Port either took advantage of the heavy lifting Adelaide did or had no option but to follow suit. More A than B, for sure.
