Welcome home Luke :D

I'm guessing he is the exempted leadership player for 2015? Doesn't mention it in the article but seen as he was AFL listed last year you would think that's the case and then he can get paid more too i think from memory. Then again the rules changed at the end of the year :? Would be good to know what restrictions are in place for the AFL reserves for 2015..

He's just turned 20...the exempted leadership player rule applies to someone 28+ doesn't it? Pretty sure that all the SANFL contractors earn the same, $400 for league games, $100 for reserves games.

Pretty sure the leadership player is exempt from that and can be paid more but like you said doesn't sound like he qualifies to be a leadership player anyway. Also he wouldn't have qualified to be listed as a player for Port or the Crows under the rules last year, can't sign anyone that was on an AFL list the previous year. Amazing, once again the rules have been bent for Port Adelaide, what a joke. Would like to know the answer as to why he has been allowed to be signed, same goes for the Crows if they sign an ex AFL player. Disgrace.

Is it because Reynolds was only on the rookie list, not the main list?

Maybe that is the loophole that was used but it shouldn't matter, he was either on an AFL list or on a VFL list or played VFL football in the last 12 months, by the rules the previous year, he would then not be available for any of the AFL reserves teams.

When will the 8 SANFL clubs get together and set the rules in Black & White!
Port having a ressies while the Candys don't, that sets up a 9 team reserves comp  , tells us everything we need to know about how the SANFL is currently being run....... It's all about bending over to those with a bit of $
Give Peter Rohde the SANFL gig so we can sort out the inbalance left now.......... he knows where to start :)

I thought the SANFL were the ones with the $$$. Hence they should be able to piss them off at anytime.

Agree with you there, would be nice to see an up to date, comprehensive set of rules. Sick of the SANFL making policy on the run and not publicly releasing it.

Under the rules he wasnt allowed at Port, but one committee recommended it be ok to another committee who gave it approval, despite the fact he's been at an AFL club and had played state league football last year. Shambles.

It really is a joke and nobody in the media or SANFL have released any info as to why this has been allowed, disgrace, it's all about keeping Port Adelaide happy.

Exactly, absolute disgrace.
Now the AO agreement appears to be signed off on its time to give the two AFL sides the flick, they should have more than enough money to go to the VFL

For the decision makers it's all about feathering their own nests, job swapping up the ladder and balancing the books in their own little corner!
The crowds prove we don't need the AFL filth in the SANFL, there is no $ uplift and they add fa apart from the fake Norwood/ Magpie (Power) rivalry.
The SANFL just needs to actively help the 8 clubs promote themselves and the League comp. plus set up a business opportunity the league can use to underpin itself with into the future. Where are you Mr Olsen....... doing a Jay Weatherman ie. fa as usual

Im happy with Sturts recruiting, Bruggerman, Staple and Evans will be more than handy.

Will be interesting to see if Coady stays FWD or goes to CHB?

Battersby back from the crows will add some polish to the midfield and hopefully Taggert can get fit and play some good footy for us.

Tambling and Kane would be decent losses you'd think, but I agree with you that the in's are more than handy. To borrow racing parlance, forgive your last start (because I reckon you played your GF the week before) so your mob should be right around the $$ again.

Disappointing, too, MacKenzie never really developed, but have plenty of tall defenders now.
Admire Lane for at least sticking it out longer than others who left for $$'s, but never showed he was going to be a consistently good league footballer.
Also hear that we may only have Aseri for a year or two before heading back home.

Thought Lane played some decent games in the back pocket for us last season in the final 7-8 games. Agreed he did stick it out longer than many others but at the end of the day he showed he isn't capable of consistently playing at SANFL league standard.

Personally, I'm glad the club is making the call to move on some of these types. I'd rather the Reserves finish last each season and develop 1-2 league standard players each year rather than finish top each year and develop nobody.

I hear Mackenzie might be looking to take a number of reserves from Eagles with him to Lucindale.

Thanks Rising Power - Port link shows there signed on top up players for this season but the Crows in SANFl only shows their 2014 players not who is trialling this season which is what I was interested in . Shame the team which says it is the team for all south australians ( MY Team )cannot keep it's website up to date
