Locky wrote:Just saw this on the SANFL website:

Each non-AFL aligned SANFL club will field a team selected from their Country and Metropolitan zones in the Under-15 competition while also choosing an Under-17 (Youth) side of players from both zones.

Minor round matches have been conducted from Tuesday July 15 through to Thursday July 19 before the Under-15 Grand Finals are held at Thebarton Oval on Friday.

Teams are split into two divisions:

Crows Division – Central District, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Sturt
Power Division – Norwood, South Adelaide, West Adelaide, Woodville-West Torrens

Whoever named those divisions should be hung, drawn and quartered, wtf have the AFL teams got to do with it! Norwood in the Power division! Makes me want to throw up.

Country zoning very much suggests Norwood should be under the Port Adelaide banner. A Port Lincoln lad, play juniors with Norwood, on to the Port Adelaide AFL list - that is true Port Adelaide - as pure pathway as it gets (besides maybe a Semaphore kid doing the same via the Eagles)!

Don Caputo

The ball so obviously hit the post it went back into play but apparently it was a goal.

Sanfl not compelled to match afl rules.

Under what authority ???

Sounds like they are the governing body of footy in SA. :-)

Don't the SANFL have a 'contract' with the Cows to play in their Competition?
Wouldn't that suggest they are likely to follow any AFL directive on rule changes?

It would be fair to suggest that I am unlikely to 'hold my breath' - in terms of expecting the SANFL to disregard their Overlord's wishes

Let's get real here we all know the sanfl will jump as soon as the AFL make their rule changes.

AFL.com: Hocking said trials would first take place in state league games, with the competitions such as the VFL, SANFL and WAFL "queueing up" to be involved.

Not shocked, if true.

Too right Amber. It wasn't too long ago that the SANFL still posessed a backbone, and the likes of us used to rally behind it on this site. We were calling the SANFL the "last bastion of real football", or something like that.
Now it's more like the AFL telling us to bend over, and the the SANFL asking should it touch the ground or put its head between its knees.

What sort of money is the AFL pumping into SA to justify us always jumping to heir commands?

Their debt sounds relatively manageable at around $600,000. But without pokie income that is probably a significant amount of money.
Glenelg wouldn't mind that level of debt not to mention the Blues (doing a good repair job) or Panthers.

Seven Melbourne will broadcast a VFL Coburg v Werribee match this Saturday as the AFL trials its potential new rules around a larger goal square.

Seven Melbourne managing director Lewis Martin said: “Fans have been incredibly engaged and passionate in their views on rule changes. This trial and broadcast gives the fans a chance to see it for themselves.”

The AFL will trial the use of a larger goal square for kick outs for the entire game, along with set ups of six midfielders, six forwards and six defenders for each centre-square bounce through the entire match.

No starting positions for players would be required for other stoppages (boundary throw-ins and around the ground ball-ups) while the game was on-going.

Coburg v Werribee
2pm Live Saturday August 4 on Channel 7 in Victoria.

Just on VFL tv telecast, who pays C7 to broadcast. As the VFL is run by the AFL do they and if yes why do they not pay C7 in Adelaide for the same.

SANFL isn't owned or run by the AFL.

No but the powers that be in the SANFL are human and have ambition. They are pleased to serve the overloads for promise of a position further up the food chain.

The days on league bosses having a deep care for the SANFL comp seemed to have gone.

Its a bit like councillors no longer being committed to the welfare of their district - it is now a career path to climb the political career ladder...

Yes exactly.
