Living memory is pretty good.

It is! Being up there with the best in the country is something I'll always remember that others will never get to experience especially beating Collingwood in Melbourne but I digress.
Anyone hear any rumours on post Christmas signings or are they a thing of the past now?

I was born in 76, mate. While we didn't win much in the first 23 years of my life, I had a lot of fun supporting my club. But from 24 to 36 was pretty damn good. The last two years have been rubbish finishes, but still better than most.
Knowing Cennals, I can verify she shares a very similar timeframe to mine.

How's your living memory going, Spargo? ;)

You were alive for that? Older than I thought.
I thought at the young age you would've been, you'd have still been a Norwood supporter at that time.
Happy to be proven wrong ;)

I'd take that as a compliment Wedgie, I thought you were old enough to remember the COA win clearly ;)

Nah mate, was 15 then.
Followed Stephen Kerley and Mick Nunan across to Prospect in the very early 80s plus I was sick of how many morons followed Norwood, North seemed a much more intelligent normal sort of supported group.;)
My living memory goes back much further than 85! Can even remember being at Norwood Oval for their 75 premiership celebrations. I remember not getting too excited about 78 as I was more into soccer by then only taking a keen interest in footy again from the start of 83 when I started folowing the Roosters seriously.
God I'm bored, work is so slow, what other off topic crap can we talk about?

Born the year before you, and like you have enjoyed watching my mob just about every week for over 30 years. Cheer Squad member in the 80's were great days. Nine losing GF's in my time have sucked, especially when we had a better side in six maybe seven of those. But that's part of being a Bays supporter. Fortunate to witness 85-86 and enjoyed the 82 elimination and 84 qualifying finals ;)
Always respected Centrals fans who went through bad before good, you've been very fortunate.

Anyone got odds on the March Premiership otherwise known as the Glenelg Cup?

My guess on what the premiership table will look like before a game is played:

Glenelg
Eagles
Sturt
Norwood
North
West
Central
South
Port
Adelaide

The last two spots, have they been filled on football knowledge or just your thoughts on the irrelevance of the teams?

All if the above.
I expect the Crows and Power to peak in April/May.
Rumour has it a couple of the Crows top up players are hopeless.

There's no grand finals in March too. ;)

I asked Centrals to nominate me, but they decided on no one. If they're more hopeless than I am I'll be shitty!

I think no salary cap in the SANFL would be great. AFL would disagree though and there's also the small problem of half the clubs struggling to pay the current salary cap
Country clubs have already been faced with the scenario of do we pay the big bucks to an import or start paying a talented local who gets chased by other country clubs.
Why does it matter if the standard of the SANFL drops? You still follow your club, you will still celebrate a premiership. Infact if the standard drops alot the Crows might faaark off

Having no salary cap in the SANFL would certainly suit my club, but then it will just turn out to be a similar set up to the EPL where the rich clubs pilfer the smaller clubs and you end up with 5 genuine favourites and the rest can please themselves.
I am with you regarding still following my club no matter the standard of play, but what about the average supporter who still wants to be entertained?
Unfortunately your last statement is a fair way off yet, atleast until the AFL bring in a national reserves comp. Don`t hold your breath :(

A few years ago now I was advocating doubling the salary cap in the SANFL. But there's no way you could think of that these days with the finances of the SANFL looking very unhealthy. Abolishing it completely will lead to clubs going bust or being uncompetitive.

However, we need something. If there is no clear jump in standard from SANFL to the lower levels then the SANFL will fold pretty quickly.
