Further stuffing up a different theory.

I reckon you're right about Whyalla. He has a brother there, doesn't he?

I doubt he is that concerned with the standard of footy players around him. I reckon he is someone who exited the AFL system with no obvious post-footy career in mind and hence is chasing $$ in the short-term. Much like Robert Shirley.

I have no doubt he'll be back in a year or two. Canberra isn't a place people fall in love with and eventually he'll tire of being a full-time footy player in a medicore league.

Robert Shirley was initially recruited to WWTFC from Ainslee, he simply went back there after he was cut from the AFL list.

 He was a club junior from Yorke Peninsula when promoted to the league team and the Candys drafted him from there!
Anyway, Tim Inkster started the trend to chase Ainslee FC $!
Salter will be no great lose to the Eagles, to be dropped out of the AFL system in your prime says it all doesn't it.
Lazy, half arsed and sort of motivated, we can do without frankly  I'd rather play a junior who wants to make it all the way, and we have plenty of them :) I feel the same about Day too, let's play a promising young lad instead of a " heart strain queen".

Shirley grew up in Whyalla and played all his footy for North Whyalla (Magpies) before being picked up by WWT since Whyalla was in their recruiting zone at the time.
He got a job out on the Eyre Peninsula and played for the Cummins Ramblers this year. I heard he was going back to coach North Whyalla but not 100% on that

Must have a new job then as when he signed for his job this year it also included a clearance form. Don't sign that then no job for you.

Back to the original topic doubt we will see any new arrivals at clubs until after the AFL finish their drafts and trading

As for Inkster chasing money, I thought he moved there for work.
He certainly moved to Loxton for work and proved to be a good bloke and, from what I could gather, not the least bit money hungry, as there would certainly have been clubs offering more money for him than Loxton could pay.

Disappointed to hear about Salter leaving as I reckon he could have potentially been one of the best FF's in the comp over a full season. Further than that, we could have a real golden era of FF's at the moment if we Wundke, Johnston, Salter, Shenton, Kirkby, Webb and Duldig.

Webb and Duldig? You reckon they'd be part of a 'golden era'?

Duldig is certainly a decent forward. Webb will be playing more forward next season

I was originally going to write "and the more than handy Kirkby, Webb and Duldig", as a second-tier group, but changed it.
And, yeah, I'd like to see Webb develop into a key forward role as I think he could make a very good fist of it.

His body was knackered as well I think. He was our most important player in the premiership year IMO and then his body let him down after that. Was great to watch - reckon he got the most out of himself at SANFL level.

Disappointing that Salter has left. He had potential to tear the SANFL apart if he got a pre-season and he was committed, but understandably he is looking for a fresh start in a competition that would be easier to get a kick and friendly on the hip pocket. With Ainger already there, the club would be silly to spend up big to keep Salter when we need a couple of high quality mids. If Grocke can get back fit, he'll be a massive in as well and I rate Zac Fitzgerald highly and would like to see him get a chance to be Full Forward, with Ainger and Grocke working hard all over the forward half of the field.

Kirkby was awful this year, and has started going to ground way too often in contested situations. If i had a $ for everytime I heard someone yell out "keep your feet Kirkby" i'd be rich

He's overrated. A decent player who's had the ability to deliver a lot more than he has.

I think kirkby needs better delivery from midfield

He needs to stop losing his feet and diving for free kicks

With another key forward to work with him it will help ease the pressure on him

You had that with Grima, but imho he still didn't do enough, especially in big games
