North - $375,000 profit.

Glenelg - $3.0m debt.

Must get unlimited text messages. ;)

But no bail out from the SANFL...

It's all about return on investment.

I think the SANFL have a "no roof no bail" policy.

Apparently rookie draft -doesn't count anymore.

Watch this space.

Well its clear now what the next great argument will be for the reserves sides fr the up coming season.

I'd be expecting a revamp with SANFL to take greater control over current junior set up . Expect articles on SA's failing junior set up and we only had 8 kids drafted as justification(false stat). Even though last 3-4 years most successful period for SAU18s re championships/numbers drafted.

Going to guess the new structure will provide greater access to SA juniors to the AFL clubs via academies or more cash to power/crows.

As per every other move made by SANFL since Olsen has taken over.

Brenton Phillips job may even be in danger under new structure which is unbelievable IMHO

Stay tuned and pretend to act surprised.

Why do the SA U18 selectors pick U17 players in the National competition when they cannot be drafted?
Is it all about winning the competition,ra ra,or getting SA players drafted?
I heard some recruiters complain why can't so and so get a game so I can see so and so
and we have players selected who are not in their gradution year.
Maybe it is time in SA for complete fresh look at what we do and why.

Pity the SANFL doesn't get as much media promotion as this new womens league. Pages and pages of stuff in the Advertiser

Thin edge of the wedge, our comp is ammo's in disguise now and will get same media attention.
Last one to leave you know the drill.........
One day women may allow sanfl games as their curtain raisers if we're lucky........ getting more and more
likely!
Seems like we have a reasonable product that is doomed to be irrelevant if it isn't already!
This site has been on life support for years ( our fault.....) mainly due to the Cancers

After watching the ladies AFL match last night I'm betting that the Flagstaff Hill under 14 team could beat both of the ladies team together. Can't believe they are spending millions on this .

They don't see them as females, just a marketable commodity. The same as us blokes, but the female footy market is an as yet largely untapped one for Gillon. There's more money for the AFL to be made in getting them involved/playing/watching/spending $ rather than sinking cash into the men's game when they already have the blokes investing in their product anyway. From a purely business perspective it makes sense. As a footy tragic, I think this is bollocks.

Lol Channel 7 reporting that the women's AFL game today got a bigger crowd than the SANFL Crows vs Sturt at thebarton last season

I do find a bit hypocritical that you guys all hate the AFL and want to stand on your own two feet but simultaneously want the AFL to give you millions of dollars in cash

Can't have it both ways.

Considering we supply plenty of players to the AFL we are more than entitled to it.
Personally I'd rather go the same way as soccer and not get a cent of funding from the AFL but get big transfer fees. The club that produces a top 10 pick should maybe get $100k or more and then a sliding scale from there.

Free entry would have something to do with that. Not many left even though it was one sided and raining.
Watching on TV. the girls held nothing back and there was a variety of skill levels but even though I was skeptical it was quite entertaining.
Good luck to them and it probably will be popular

My comment was more to that point that it was a pretty irrelavant stat to claim as 'news' considering all the decrepencies between comparing the two games

Yet will no doubt be another reason the uneducated crowvertiser style supporter will believe the SANFL is dead

Absolutely how many would go if they had to pay and to mention the Adelaide/Sturt game
shows what twats they are on 7 hardly any Crows supporter goes to an SANFL game anyway so
it is an unfair comparison.

Had nothing to do with your comment, was just a general observation.

Plenty on here think that the afl have in effect diverted money away from sanfl to fund this. It's the only reason I can come up with that as to why there is so much vitriol towards the women.

Magellan and others correctly pointed out it's a marketing exercise for the most part, so that money wasn't going to grass roots, wasn't going anywhere.

I hate the AFL, and I would genuinely love to see Gillon shove his money up his arse, note by note. AFL funding is like crack to a whore - it is only given on the implicit understanding that the receiver will allow itself to be screwed, and once dependent on it the habit is difficult to kick.

No, but plenty of us think that a similar amount could be spent on setting up a proper AFL reserves league.
