SANFL MRP News & Discussions

Post by Big Phil »

Adam Grocke has been referred direct to the tribunal for the rough conduct charge on Brad Symes...

Looks like Grocke only has 4 games on his record so unless he cops 12 games, will not be looking at de-registration...

The length of any ban is all going to hinge on what they deem his intentions were. Was it reckless or intentional. I dare say only Adam truly knows what he was trying to do in that contest.

Good to hear that Symes isn't badly injured.

If he gets less than 8 I'd feel a miscarriage. If that isn't intentional then I don't know what "in play" incidents you'd ever call intentional. All the noise about protecting players, looking after head injuries all means nothing if he doesn't get 2 months. I can even see it being more but that life ban line now adds in a complication so I doubt they'll go beyond 10 without the thought of retiring a bloke.

Yeah , real top bloke after he hit him he did not even at least go up to Symes to see if he was OK.

Showed absolutely no remorse after the incident.

Just stood there like a stunned mullet !!!

Not sure how out of character it was for Grocke. It was the seventh time he has been reported in the last five years.

So, if that is your thought on the incident, how many games do you think he should get, Bounce of the Ball?

Was worse than a king hit IMHO as had the momentum of a run up and his body behind it.

Yep and an elbow is arguably more dangerous than a clenched fist.

Also generally if your king hit your feet are generally planted on the ground not in mid air

The same distance as Symes had to run and hardly a run up. Reckless yes but to no way near as severe as a king hit.

So once you run a certain distance anything people do to you is less severe? Odd opinion. As is the opinion it was less severe than a king hit. Standing and punching someone with a clenched fist is obviously pretty poor, but likely to do more damage to your own hand or wrist without proper training. Hit someone with an elbow though and you'll do more damage at less risk. The only thing in Grocke's favour really is the fact it wasn't 100 metres behind play.

No, it wasn't, Bounce of the ball, it was Tom Collier that bumped into Ainger...

So, what are your thoughts on how many games Grocke should get?
