Sturt 16.13 109
North 7.6 48

2.3 3.4 6.6 7.6
2.1 10.5 12.9 16.13

Croad, Crocker, Hansen 3 each, Greenslad, Duldig 2 each
No multiiple goal scorers for North

Bartlett 30 disposals, Kirkwood 26, Watt, Greenslade 24 each
Shannon 33, Thiele 24

Commanding 4 quarter effort by the Blues today. Look the real deal! North have way too many youngsters who don't stand up every week.

Well I nominated Sturt bottom two but hats off to their effort. Good honest team with no real stars, long way to go yet but must be encouraging for the long suffering Blues supporters.

Not their fault Wedgie, some of these kids should be in the 18's, we have some more senior recruits as well that havent played much league footy.

As for them all, this is all experience, yes we will lose the likes of Burton etc to the CFL but those we dont are getting some experience at young ages.

We got beaten today but these kids and others without much experience got game time.

Still think we are a good chance this year if we dont get a mass of injuries

I didn't but out of respect only. I really suspected that we'd struggle after the exodus but this has been a breath of fresh air. Given Carlton's position, I'm following the SANFL with great gusto!

Agree its not their fault Locky, its just a nature of playing so many young kids at this level that were going to have inconsistent performances.

I reckon Kurtze, Coad, Tambling, Kirkwood, Kane easily qualify as stars in this comp. They'd all play in a state side picked now.

12, but our non-flag-winning-years have been pretty ordinary. But, I tend to agree, hardly "long" suffering when you consider South supporters.

Or North supporters who are in their 23rd year

We were garbage today. Sturt carved us up, as they should have.

Wasn't that confident but when I heard the outs from north, I felt a little easier. Great to listen to on radio, and good to put a full 4 qtr effort together. Bartlett being bog is good as he is a second teir player stepping up. We have a few of them getting better each week.

A big test next week.

Really impressed with how we played today, very scratchy in the first 1/4, both clubs were, but how we finished off the last 3 were outstanding. Our young kids are just getting better and better. Watt and Kirkwood are great onballers, Kouta is doing a huge job in ruck and around the ground, his second efforts are great but it's the likes of Hanson, Bartlett, Crocker, Guy Page, Penfold, Stephens, Greenslade, Krause etc that have taken their games to another level and more consistent. These guys are either young or mid 20's but have been fringe players or developing due to the AFL players at Sturt.
I thought North did well on both Duldig and Coad but our smaller forwards/midfielders managed to kick some great goals.
Crockers second 1/4 was outstanding, broke free on the wing, I was surprised that he ended up with so few disposals in the end.
It's a nice change to play North now they have a smaller fwd line, we always struggled to handle their talls, I think a lot of today Beard was up around the half fwd line helping out while Hinge, who had one of his better games, took care of defence.
I think the final score flattered North a bit 29 scoring shots to 13.
Great day at the footy and topped it off with a photo with Flash Graham.

Fair call too mate, I remember Ian saying to me at half time that we'll be happy to get out of this with a 10 goal loss if we play better and if anything Sturt dominated even more in the 2nd half, probably a 12-15 goal better side today.
Very impressed by the Double Blues today.

We need a team full of Todd Miles, but he had a bad one by his standards.

Cheer up North fans you've got the bye, oh I mean Centrals next week, I GUARANTEE that you will win, it's just a matter of if it is by 15 or 20 goals. Remember you heard it first here.

Didnt see a 10 goal win coming. But good signs for the Double Blues. Big test coming up against the power reserves this week.

Pfft, I'm going to go watch my girlfriend play netball instead of going out to Elizabeth.
Ironically the netball is further away then the footy!
My first miss for the year.
