Round 1 free-kick

I think it's grossly unfair to only have 4 teams playing in Round 1.
Unfair on the other sides who face them the following week.
No matter how many trial games you play, there's nothing like a proper game for match fitness and blowing out the pre-season cobwebs.

I realise there's a lot of different considerations in putting together a season program. But I think all teams playing Round 1 must be a non-negotiable.

Come on SANFL, keeping the playing field level should be your highest priority.

Quite right. It would have been easy to program (if necessary to split the round) to have say South vs Norwood and Sturt vs Glenelg round 2.

Personally playing this weekend when it is 100% AFL FREE as the WAFL has done would be a great idea.

The season was actually not supossed to start until April 10 but a few clubs wanted to maintain their Easter traditions so some Rd 14 games were moved to Easter weekend creating a lopsided start and a premiership table out of alignment for over half the season.

Exactly DOC. Having the teams which played Round 1 playing against each other the following week or two would have been so easy to do and made things much fairer in terms of match fitness.

Wake up SANFL.

No AFL last weekend at all, the Cricket World Cup Final on Sunday.

Surely Friday night, Saturday ( *3 ) and Saturday night would have been an ideal way to showcase the SANFL and kick the season off?!?!?!

The SANFL programming has been shit for years now.

Having just 18 games per club to be spread across the season hasn't helped from a scheduling point of view.

Especially since the SANFL were leaned upon (and subsequently bent over) to conclude their season before the AFL's.

SANFL would not have been able to use Woodville or Glenelg as A & B Grade District Finals were on them and when the SANFL would have programmed Unley and Prospect were off the table. I guess the other 5 Clubs could have hosted.

AFL dictates all - the SANFL may claim it is "independent" but we the great unwashed masses know they are just puppets!
