Those lists look a bit thin. Dont think we have to worry about either of thise sides winning it.

Both have 5-6 fringe players that will potentially qualify aswell

They would need all of them

Logan Austin has had surgery so he's out. The others close to qualification are:

Player SANFL-AFL
Amon 9-5*
Mitchell 8-6*
Neade 8-7
Monfries 1-16*
O’Shea 8-6
Stewart 7-6
Clurey 7-8
Impey 2-13*
Moore 8-5
Colquhoun 9-6
Ah Chee 8-7*
S. Gray 10-6
Krakouer 4-10*
Jonas 3-13*
Shaw 6-0*

Anyone else who plays 3 of the last 5 SANFL games

*Has played at least 1 of the last 5 SANFL games

Edit - the "3 games after 30 June" would probably knock a few off this list.

What chances are there that Hinkley will give these fringe players a run in the AFL over the last month?

Why? Port are already sitting in equal 2nd spot and they'll have more players qualifying by the time the 2nd week of SANFL finals is on.

Sam Gray and Kane Mitchell will come back to qualify I reckon....

Just nicely top it up at the end of the year

Mitchell will, Sam played his best game at AFL level last week and will get another year.

AFL listed players must play league in the SANFL. They cannot play SANFL reserves.

So apparently the "3 of the last 5" rule has been replaced with "SANFL > AFL + 3 since 30th June".

[Edit: Confirmed http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2 ... nfl-finals ]

Revised lists (I think I have this right...)

Eligible:
Butcher
Harvey
Howard
Byrne-Jones
Redden
Palmer
Frampton
Wagner
Logan
Russell
S. Gray [unless he plays all 4 remaining AFL games]

On the verge:
Amon 9-5 [has played at least 3 games since 30 June]
Mitchell 8-6 [has played at least 3 games since 30 June]
Ah Chee 8-7 [has played at least 3 games since 30 June]
Colquhoun 9-6 [2 games since 30 June]
Moore 8-5 [2 games since 30 June]
Shaw 6-0 [1 game since 30 June]
Stewart 7-6 [1 game since 30 June]

Unlikely (would need to be dropped to the SANFL for the last 3 games):
Neade 8-7 [No SANFL since 30 June]
O’Shea 8-6 [No SANFL since 30 June]
Clurey 7-8 [No SANFL since 30 June]

All dropped back to the Magpies this week. Not suggesting their form didn't merit it, but for a club big on talking up the axe that was coming. all the underperforming big names survived again (with the exception of Lobbe).

What "big names" would you have dropped and who would you think deserved to displace them with their SANFL form?

Dunno mate, didn't see last weeks game. Monfries. Lobbe and Jonas are probably the biggest names to be axed this year? (and all deserving of a spell in the twos)

Schultz, Westoff, Ebert, Hartlett, White, for example have all been ordinary, in a team a shadow of the previous seasons version. You can throw Ryder in that group too. But none have felt the axe.

I'm not suggesting there's anything untoward with these changes, but the potential is there for that to look different in a few weeks time.

I'd give Schulz and Westhoff the benefit of the doubt, I don't think any forward would prosper with our current delivery.

White, I agree, he's very lucky to stay in this week with Neade.

Ebert had his best game last week for several weeks, he was also in and willing to give it his all in the Essendon and Saints game without getting much reward.

Hartlett was ok last week, flashed in and out, didn't have much of an impact, but nobody really did!

I think there could have been more changes but having said that nobody at SANFL level is really knocking down the door, well, not anyone who we know what we get anyway. Like Stewart, Amon.

Perhaps Billy Frampton who I really like the look of might get a somewhat "surprise" AFL debut before seasons end.

Maybe discuss it in the AFL section ? I smell Tarps again. Must get a new oval soon .

Normally I would agree but I think its relevant and informative for SANFL. I don't go over to the AFL stuff except for when something happens that interests me, so finding out how their form impacts the finals is fine IMHO.
