Pretty good effort with this.

West v Norwood is Friday night and then those three Sunday games listed there are Saturday matches.

Cheers mate, edited. I'm sure there's more anomalies as I had a few at the pub tonight and had to type it up from something that looked like one of those 3d paintings it was so blurry.

This is at Encounter Bay Oval which I think is an excellent piece of fixturing.

Have always said that I think it would be great for South to capture more interest from the vast Fleurieu region by bringing at least one league match per season to GSFL/SFL venues.

So South have been shafted from Good Friday and we lose a home game at noarlunga?

If this is true geez the SANFL hate us

Not happy the Anzac day match at Unley and it also should be a TV match. I know it clashes with the AFL but so does playing at Unley. I would have preferred AO. Have we bent to the powers that be or finances ? The SANFL requires tradition and an add on to celebrate the day and respect the people that go into the city.

If they have requested it, you would hope that it hasn't been taken away from South. They are the ones that gave it a go and made it work.

Was it played at AO in 2016 Goddy?

I hope South haven't agreed to give up Good Friday in exchange for the 2 AFL pre season games but I'm starting to smell a rat..............................

It is a possibility.
Just playing Devil's Advocate for a minute, Central v North would be a big drawcard in the northern suburbs on that holiday. Likewise, Glenelg v Sturt at Glenelg always draws a big crowd if both sides are up and about. The novelty of having them as a Good Friday would be seen as untapped potential. These two games would also be unlikely to interfere with each other's drawing potential, owing to the location of the venues.
The theory would be that South trades off their successful Good Friday formula for a couple of preseason AFL games, and the SANFL gets two potentially high drawing fixtures.
It would be interesting to hear the back story behind the decision.

Despite the continued drop off in interest thanks to the AFL teams I can see a rise in crowds next season if the first 6 weeks of programming is a fair indication of the rest of the season, huge improvement on last year's debacle.
Downside is if crowds do go up they'll say the AFL teams are a success and they'll be there forever with the ridiculously inadequate cap for finals only also staying in place for ever.

Yeah it was and barely attracted 3000 fans.

Are they trying to avoid the "bye" debacle of 2016 by calling round 5 a split round, where it technically isn't a "split round" because you've got Sturt and Eagles playing twice during the round. This way, it doesn't look like the other 8 teams have a bye.

In reality, Glenelg and West have a bye in round 5 (the first week) with the other 6 teams having a bye in the second week (what should be round 6).

Same as the AFL, each team has a "bye" within a 3 week period, not a "split round".

I wonder how many other "split rounds" there will be?

I don't think the crowd size is important. The 2 grand finalists should play at AO regardless on Anzac day .
The cricket people play Sheffield Shield there with a couple of hundred patrons with no complaints .

The cricket people have a lot more coin than the football people.

This could be because of Sturt and eagles playing on a Tuesday in round 3 and therefore having a short week. So give them a bye and then play catch up with two games in round 5 over two weekends.

Two country games, South and Glenelg both against the Crows.

When did the country town hosting the Glenelg v Crows game go from being on the SA/Vic Border to a room people rent?
