EAGLES
League

Woodville-West Torrens defender Joseph Sinor could play his first Macca’s League game of the season against Sturt on Saturday.

Last year’s Powerade Breakthrough Player has played two games in the Reserves after recovering from the broken leg he suffered in a trial match earlier this year.

Sinor is one of three inclusions to the Eagles’ 23-man squad, along with ruckman Marc Borholm and defender Jake Westbrook.

Midfielder Angus Poole will miss one match after accepting an early guilty plea for striking.

Premiership defender Luke Thompson will play his 150th Macca’s League match.

STURT
League

Sturt coach Marty Mattner is set to show plenty of faith in his players against the Eagles on Saturday.

Despite conceding 13 goals in the final term against Norwood, Mattner will focus on the positives which earned his side a four-goal lead at three quarter-time.

As a result, he could take an unchanged line-up into the clash against the Eagles, with two uncapped youngsters included on the extended interchange bench.

Hahndorf FC product Adam Trenorden and Meningie FC export Tom Lewis have both been listed on the five-man extended interchange bench to possibly join the list of BankSA Rookies this season.

Looking forward to the game. Sinor is a big inclusion if he plays.

Should be a great game. Sturt will be desperate to win to help ensure a top 3 finish. Eagles side close to full strength with probably only Poole and Petrenko (will he get sufficiently fit?) the only 2 not in the best 21. Eags in a close one.

Our last quarters are a bit of a concern but I'll take a win like that over the Oigles any day.

Game of team of handballers against a quick team of high flyers and good marks. The eagles were never in it after losing the toss and kicking against the wind. Sturt had loose men everywhere most ot the time and the Eagles constantly handballed instead of kicking. Three of the handballs in the backlines were picked off by Sturt and gifted them goals. Eagles couldn't play much worse although they might be able to next week against Norwood

When did we last beat WWT in the minor round? Last wins have come in the 16 GF and the 17 prelim. Lost all minor round games to the Eages those years

Good point. Last home-and-away win for Sturt against the Eages was Round 11 2014. Seven home-and-away losses between then and yesterday.

Thanks Scott, I had exactly the same question.

On that display, GF between Norwood and sturt. Eagles midfield inferior to both of those sides. Both of those sides are able to dry up our scoring as well.
Gap between Eags best and worst is way too big. Sturt controlled the game for 3 quarters, the last quarter meant little. On a positive note, Sinor played well and will be better for the run. Thank God we won't finish minor premiers again. It is a poisoned chalice for us.

Reaction v Norwood this week will be interesting and really show where we stand- probably the 3rd best team!
