NORWOOD

Norwood is poised to unveil its prized recruit when it tackles North at Adelaide Oval.

Former North Melbourne and Brisbane midfielder Ryan Bastinac has been named on a seven-man extended interchange bench after being named in the Reserves’ best players for Round 1.

The Lions’ NEAFL premiership captain has been joined in the squad by key defender Michael Talia (recovered from hamstring) and former South bigman Codey Ellison while unheralded midfielder Will Abbott returns for the first time since Round 6 last season.

Abbott had his 2019 campaign cut short after undergoing knee surgery.

Lewis Johnston, who played in a defensive role against Glenelg in Round 1, has been forced out with a quad injury.

A late withdrawal in Round 1 with an ankle ailment, Barns is one of three inclusions to the Roosters’ squad of 24 which must be trimmed by two before the bounce.

Barns has been joined on the extended interchange bench by small forward Keanu Miller and utility Lee Minervini.

Forward Ben Jarman was unable to overcome the ankle injury he picked up in the first quarter of the Round 1 win against West.

Norwood lose Johnson but gain plenty. They looked the business to start the game off last week but were unable to continue it against strong opposition.

North looked good last week. Pacy and attacking. Barns (if he plays) gives them 2 ruck options against Baulderstone.

Early days yet as teams strive to settle in this dis-jointed season.

North by a goal.

Cotton has cost you 2 flags. Your conditioning coach ain't any better Jim, Grigg and Barry last week looked like they were in their 3rd trimester.

Thats a huge call ? How so? Do you mean fitness coach? If this is all factual what are the club doing about it ?

Both statements I have heard more than once from a couple of mates who have been Norwood members for 30+ years. His gamestyle and team selections have knobbled them. It was fairly obvious last week that some of them weren't exactly in tiptop shape.

Massive question marks over JC, but didn’t cost us 2 flags. To blame him for 2018 is to undersell North who were Red hot. He’s certainly never struggled for a half decent list though.

No one in the SANFL would have beaten North that day and that is not disrespecting Norwood either as they played a cracker of a game also. It was just North`s day. Both coaches and teams should take a bow after that game as it was one of the most entertaining games of football that Australian rules football has seen in a while. =D>
P.S North to win today by 2 goals.

Just looking at the previous game and now this on , there appears to be a few "heavy: looking players out there. Lack of preseason maybe?

Lead to believe our boys were comparatively in better nick than any recent seasons prior to the shutdown, but had heard a few of the lads had let their conditioning and/or skin folds slide in that downtime.

So predictable. If you don’t take your chances the good sides make you pay

Both sides are burning the ball. Roosters just a bit cleaner when they had the ascendancy in the second part of that quarter.

Have to nail your goals. We have been plagued by inaccuracy for years
