Callow by name, and going by his age, possibly by nature as well.

To keep me from the Callow's pole?

Yes, provided you're not too damn poor, or have a sister ridin' many a mile.

New eagles recruit

Young Garawa man, Mishai Wollogorang is heading to Oval Avenue
Mishai is a proud young Garawa man from Robinson River, NT, a remote Indigenous community consisting of 285 residents and a working cattle station.

Mishai was identified during the recent WWTFC Community visit to Yirara College in Alice Springs where he had recently been boarding at the college and undertaking year thirteen and a carpentry traineeship.

David Couzner, WWTFC Football Director said “After meeting with Mishai and his senior house parent at Yirra College, Jed De Laine, it was evident to Luke & Jade that Mishai was extremely committed to playing football at the highest standard, but more importantly, he is committed to gaining an apprenticeship and becoming a positive role model for the youth within Robinson River. As a community club, we are in a great position to be able to facilitate the relocation to Adelaide and the employment opportunity for Mishai, to assist him in achieving his goals. He has a hard journey ahead of him; however, he has a strong WWTFC support base structure around him, that will assist with the transition”.

After completing a week of work experience with WWTFC club major sponsor Maughan Thiem, the Club is extremely pleased to advise, Mishai will commence an automotive apprenticeship with Maughan Thiem next week. Maughan Thiem CEO, Daniel Thomas said, “The Maughan Thiem Group has always enjoyed a close partnership and relationship with the WWTFC. When presented with Mishai and the opportunity to provide a week’s work experience we jumped at the opportunity. Mishai is a fantastic young man who is driven to learn and succeed. We are looking forward to assisting Mishai with his employment journey and welcoming him into the Maughan Thiem family”.

West Adelaide welcomes Ronald Fejo Jr to West Adelaide from the Wanderers.

The speedy wingman uses his pace and skills to do damage through the middle and up forward and took out the Round 4 NTFL Rising Star nomination in 2020.

Ronald’s previous coach Shannon Motlop said, “Ronald’s finding his feet as a league footballer and that includes the confidence and self belief you need at the top level,”

“He’s in his second season of Premier League football and with that has come the ability to run and carry the footy with his leg speed and use it to his side’s advantage.”

West Adelaide Football Manager Wayne Siekman said, “the 19 year old has an elite kick, amazing agility, good speed and has good endurance. He is a great athlete and an exciting talent for 2021. He is keen to improve and see how far he can go with his footy.”

Welcome to the club Ronald.

In other list news, ruckman Stuart Taverner has returned to training at West Adelaide after a change in circumstance which earlier saw him leave the club.

Bailey Chamberlain and Jye Sinderberry who made their debut against Norwood last year have also committed to the club for 2021.

We will also be temporarily saying goodbye to Keelan Laube who informed the players last night that he will be taking leave from the club for personal reasons.

Going to keep an eye on him, that's my tribe, my Dad came from there and his Mum was a proud Garawa lady. Good luck to the lad!

Fantastic that these players are coming to the SANFL competition. I'm pretty sure Callow was rated highly as a draft prospect, but obviously missed out and the West and Eagles recruits sound like they'll add a level of excitement to the competition as they develop.

I agree

The quality of the competition of this upcoming season should be the best it's been for at least a decade. So many good recruits have been brought in by clubs.

Cue the lamentations from certain Centrals supporters :)

Lets get serious, the comp has never been worse than what it is now.
Top level players can get more in the country, certainly mid tier players can get more for half the committment, the comp is a joke and if the AFL doesnt supplement the salary cap its only going to get worse. But thats fine because it brings clubs like Port into the equation and cock smacks like Booney can beat their meat over a top 3 side when it turns to shit with their AFL side.

I have heard that certain top level and mid-level players can get more in the country and that the SANFL salary cap was going to bite. But all teams (barring centrals) seemed to have recruited multiple well credentialed players (ex-AFL, ex VFL and NEAFL plus Vic U18s) who in other years would not have chosen to come to the SANFL. The creation of the AFL's new east coast state competition appears to have been a godsend for the SANFL as certain clubs formally in the NEAFL were axed causing their players to look elsewhere. Look at the influx of players to our competition this year from Queensland and ACT.

It would appear that the salary cap restriction has been less of a problem than anticipated as people are being attracted to clubs through job offers rather than through salary from the club. This is probably the way clubs needed to go to ensure they could gain top-level recruits. Having an employment agency as one of your key sponsors sure helps. One club has landed 9 recruits through this connection. It probably won't be long before other clubs try to follow suit.
Cheers

Central supporters keep on complaining of their poor recruiting but the recruiting from North has been underwhelming.
Aaron Young is seemingly the only recruit.
North seem happy with the squad that was not good enough last year.

With most sides having probably finished their recruiting has any club picked up a supposed "Marquee player"

Pretty sure north are happy with what they've recruited. Might not be the big name ex afl stars but good players from strong leagues. Plus a couple who didn't play much last year.
