They wanted to play with friends they grew up with and Barrie never even considered pressuring them to go to North even though it was probably only a 10 min drive!

I think with the Robrans they didn't want to play under a certain coach. They were actually in North's zone and had to get a clearance to Norwood. They did go to school in the Norwood area.
On the other hand Ben Jarman and Ryan Burton both came from the Western side of town to play juniors and then seniors at North.

I’m guessing then it was Nunan that they didn’t want to play under?
Can you confirm/deny that when Nunan was appointed coach he took down photos of Barrie in the club & said “You’re all living in the past” or words to that effect...

Like the rest of the South Australian sporting public that is what I have been led to believe.
I have only heard one person actually mention it as fact and that was when Jeff "Bomber" Hammond became coach of the South Australian cricket team.
Bomber was interviewed on National Radio and mentioned that as a North Adelaide man he was horrified when Nunan took all of Robran's photos down but having become coach of South Australia he now understood and he felt the state team needed to move on from David Hookes and create their own future.
At the time I thought it strange that Bomber would raise Nunan, Robran and North Adelaide in a national forum but I guess that is the impact it had on North at the time.

Unless we beat Adelaide in a couple of weeks we will be worse than last season. We have no chance against Glenelg or the Eagles.Big changes needed on and off the field if we are to be competitive again.Teams dont fear coming to Elizabeth anymore they pencil in a win and move on .

This thread should be renamed GFC 2012-2017 based on the comments on here. I’m just appreciative that for the past three years we’ve played like CDFC 2000-2010 (we’re not in your class yet)

However you’re us from 2012-2017, peers are is our depth, skill, bigs, players that want to stay rather than chase country $$$.

Welcome to our pain basically from 1994-2018

Club Legend, maybe event the greatest club legend.

Probably should have went a few years ago though but cant blame him for finishing his career in the role.

Well earned retirement ahead for him.

Was told at the time it was done because they were "renovating and upgrading to make it a members only set-up".
Have 2 photos hanging that were purchased straight of the wall. Fav being Barrie signing an autograph coming off Unley Oval after his first game with Bob Hammond in back of him (Was a framed print of newspaper one)

BP, its all in your 40 year Almanac, by Rob Laidlaw! In 1991, Alan Stewart's first year as coach, we lost 8 games in a row.
