HIGH-FLYING Glenelg will enter the SANFL bye week with the remarkable record of not having lost a game at league, reserves or under-18s level this season.

And in an ominous warning to rivals, first-year coach Brett Hand said his league team had not produced a four-quarter performance in the opening six rounds.

“It’s good to be six-zip but we’re still only playing the type of footy I want us to play in spurts,’’ he said after the Bays’ thrilling four-point win against Sturt at Glenelg on Sunday.

“We haven’t played four quarters of footy yet and that’s the challenge for any club, any coach, so I’ve got a bit of work to do there to make sure we stay focused so we don’t concede goals as easily as we have been. But we go into the break knowing we have worked pretty hard.

“Darren (Trevena) has our under-18s going really well, the style of footy we are playing there is quite impressive and there’s some good young kids there. And we’ve got so much pressure coming through the reserves at the moment, they are hungry for success and hungry to get a game in the ones. There is a good vibe around the club and Jason (SANFLW coach Jason Fairall) and the girls had a really good win too against the Eagles, so it’s a really good feeling around the place.’’

One of the key men knocking on the door of a league call-up is 2019 premiership midfielder Brad Agnew, who has played three consecutive reserves games following ankle surgery.

"SANFL bye week".

The league is doing its utmost to conceal the state game. Makes one wonder why they bother with it.

West End State Coach Jade Sheedy has hailed the hunger and desire of SANFL’s superstars to ensure the Haydn Bunton Junior Cup is retained at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

The final team of 23 players – littered with premiership stars, Magarey Medallists and best-and-fairest winners – illustrates the Croweaters’ commitment to the cause against the WAFL.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Sheedy is delighted with his blend of youth and experience, together with outside pace and inside ball-winning ability through the midfield.

With 2019 Fos Williams Medallist Michael Knoll set to lead the ruck, the midfield group will feature the past two Magarey Medallists in Luke Partington and Campbell Combe together with Norwood skipper Matthew Nunn and former Crow Riley Knight.

AFL experienced pair Bryce Gibbs and Cam Sutcliffe could also roll through the centre square while also offering coach Sheedy plenty of versatility, a feature of arguably the competition’s most flexible player – Eagle Jack Hayes.

Glenelg trio Liam McBean, Lachie Hoise and Luke Reynolds will form a formidable structure in attack with pacy pair Tyson Stengle and Eamon Wilkinson ready to pounce around the goals while applying defensive pressure.

In defence, Eagles captain Luke Thompson will link up with Glenelg co-skippers Max Proud and Chris Curran while South’s Joe Haines and Bob Quinn Medallist Sam Rowland are set to play specific roles in the back half.

The leadership group for the West End State Team will be announced in the next 24 hours while the squad will train at Thebarton Oval on Tuesday night before having a run at Adelaide Oval before a team dinner on Thursday night.

Starting at 3.35pm, the match will be the curtain-raiser to the Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs AFL clash and will be live-streamed at theadvertiser.com.au and broadcast on SEN SA and WA.

Frigged if I'm going to pay Murdoch or buy a smears ticket just to watch a state game. Well done SANFL, you have made the game inaccessible to the punters who might have watched it, while granting access to a group who will be totally indifferent to it.

If anyone knows of a pub which might be streaming the game on a reasonable sized screen then please post it here.

It is.

If you do not have it the Advertiser is streaming it as well.

A previous state game was an AFL curtain raiser was it not? 2017 or 2018 I think. (not that I agree with this approach)

Not sure that the Eagles team form warrants so many Eagles in side. Sheedy bias? I hope those nasty WA players aren't bringing the dreaded Covid across the border. Is there any isolation protocols for this game?

Agree - of the nine Eagles in the team there are at least two who are pretty lucky to be there.

There are 6. I can't see Stengle playing, was well held on the weekend and appeared to have a calf issue.

Are you 100% sure it will be shown on Digital Pass?? I am hearing the opposite from many sources, saying only on Advertiser website for those who subscribe? Hope you are right though

I was of the understanding that the Advertiser live stream was a direct take of the digital pass.

Go to the WAFL Facebook home page and they are streaming through there too.
