R10 Glenelg v North Monday 1410

Postby DOC » Thu Jun 10, 2021 2:33 pm

North beat Adelaide by 40 points and Glenelg kicked the last 8 to win by a point. Yeh they're not the flag favorites.

Billy Hartung (AKA The Tampon) after playing a game will miss with a hammy while Glenelg have no new injury concerns.

Glenelg to win this one at home (BTW 2021 premiership t shirts will be on sale in the club) by 5 goals.

Wish he was a tampon, he's usually in for one game and then out for half a season. Once a month would be a bonus.

Watching bits and pieces on the digital pass at work and North are matching the Bays in all areas except a bit of polish.
Bays 25 points up at 3/4 time but stats pretty even.

Lot of dirty plays from North, that Robbie Young loves to hit people in the stomach a lot. Unfortunately the umpires don't see it. Lots of hanging on to players in our forward lines too, umpires have finally woken up to it. Bays start slow but playing some ok footy now.

Corey Bowen, next time you get a Glenelg game just do the honourable thing and wear the opposition’s guernsey.

I concur with the previous two posts. I don’t like calling players snipers but that Robbie Young deadset fits the bill. Grub of a player.
Onto the game, not a lot to write home about, out foot skills were terrible but our commitment to hit the contest can’t be questioned. North never gave up but Glenelg were in control from midway through the second qtr.
Good crowd, nowhere near as many North supporters compared to previous years.

Funnily enough we were saying precisely the same thing about him but in reverse. He just makes bewildering decisions and misses the obvious.

I note that both sides ended up with the same number of frees.

It suggests to me that he stuffs up evenly.

Onto the game, Glenelg were smoother through the centre and as always had McBean as a focal point where North had no marking option up forward.

North actually had more of the ball and more inside 50s, but Glenelg are so much more polished.

It seems a contradiction to me but I don't think Glenelg Oval suits Glenelg's style of play. They should be very comfortable at Adelaide Oval.

I said it before but at this stage they are a five goal better side than any other side I have seen.

57 frees for the game, seems like an awful lot, especially when you consider some of the plum frees which didn't get paid - both ways.

Good intense game of footy. Credit to North for running the game out; never felt the Bays were safe. Good banter with the fans on the SW flank. I wouldn't write the Roosters out of finals contention yet.

Tradesman like win today

Not our cleanest interms of ball movement, thought at times we overused the footy,

Snooky and Cuz outstanding. McBean finished up lots off good work done by Proud, Turner and Parto.

Take the win lots to work on. Woodville at Pecker Park will be tough, not sure I could’ve said that as I watched,1982 the way it was, 39 years ago….
