R 18 Port v South Saturday 1405

FMD. Can we not play at the same time even just for 2 weeks in a row?

Expect several changes for South,

Grifiths will miss due to concussion meaning plug a hole Alex Cailotto will have to ruck alone. Don;t see Draper keeping his spot.

Schwarz and Milsolm available and they should be the inclusions.

Cross and O'Neil at best a half in the reserves.

Port side will obviously depend on their AFL commitment.

South to rebound here. Usual margin.

If so, is he qualified re clearances etc etc etc. Or is this a "Kotchy rule"?

Agreed, like to know if he was cleared by the due date? Surely not another different rule they're playing under?

Adelaide Plains league have finished their minor round. Hamley Bridge didn't make the finals starting this weekend, so Butch is free to play.

Thanks, this seems ridiculous - what are the rules? Can teams "stack", strengthen their team pre-finals with players from other leagues. Surely there's a cut off date. Percentage still might be important for South.

This may bore a few, but it reminds me of a player who played for South in 1933, when I was researching that seasons players.

Player 693 I believe is Harold Roy Holder; he played for Goodwood in the Amateur League, but because that season finished much earlier, he then turned out for the Association (Reserves) side for a couple of matches, then the League side for the last two.

I am always suspicious of Port, their history of repeatedly bending the rules, but I can't see it in this. They need tp ick up 220 points on South to overcome the % difference, so South have to lose their last two games by 100 points (counting both) against Port and West, and Port have to win their last 2 games by 100 points against South and Glenelg. Same story with Norwood who play North then Adelaide. Port won't play finals.

True, but it impacts yey again on the integrity of the comp (which now has none). I know unlikely, but if sturt win their two last games and South drop one South drop out and Sturt are in. Sturts percentage is currently better than Souths (i know unlikely).

Centrals have a player in their 2's who hasnt played all year. Barossa Districts have a bye and their season is over so he is playing against South on saturday at Elizabeth. This is basically the same as Butcher

Given the abuse he use to cop week in and week out why would he want to play again at the magpies?

Seriously, I think he is a good clubman who just likes playing footy. He certainly helped CDFC last year - without him agreeing to play again after Daniel Menzel was injured I don't think we would have got the draw against West or beaten Norwood.

I’m not doubting he can still play at this level but he put up with so much shit from supporters when he was at the magpies.
I never saw a Centrals game but heard he didn’t cop as much when playing there which was good.

Apart from Covid restrictions etc etc, does this mean the hero and medal winner from last years GF, Foote, could line up for the Eagles for the rest of the year?
