It was announced at the B&F Count for the Magpies that we was appointed Captain in season 2024.

Has that since changed, yeah?

Onya, Schimma ;)

My guess would be Brooksby, but then he and Abbey just brought a house in Melbourne.

I hope this isnt a sign of the future where players think theyre a better chance to get back into the AFL system by playing VFL rather than SANFL

It's not a sign of the future, it is the current.

Have had a SANFL club Footy Manager tell me directly that this is exactly what is happening.

Jackson Hately was a combination of this reason and his partner working in Victoria, but Monty is 100% this reason.

Suspect if he doesn't get picked up in 2024 then he would likely return to SA in 2025.

Don't get that, we are 2nd best comp in the country and if you perform much better chance of being picked up

The logic for the players is they feel they are directly under the eye of all of the Victorian-based AFL Clubs by playing in Melbourne and with/against VFL teams that are aligned with AFL Clubs.

I can handle the loan scenario which has happened in the last for a small period of the season, but this makes my blood boil.

Im guessing on draft night he wears his AFC polo before he gets selected

Most significant development work in Tyler's footy journey happened 18 years ago, not sure the Eagles were present....

From the Crow site

Ins
Tyler Welsh is joining the Crows from Woodville-West Torrens
Emerging 200cm ruckman/forward Toby Murray – the younger brother of Adelaide’s AFL defender Nick – is also joining the Crows from Wangaratta.

Other signings include three-time Mail Medallist and two-time premiership midfielder/forward Steve Burton from Gawler South, Division One Amateur League leading goal kicker and premiership player Jayden Davis from Prince Alfred Old Collegians, Broadview utility Sam Daniele, Langhorne Creek premiership midfielder Darcy Clifford and former Central District on-baller and State Under-18 representative Austin McDonald.

Outs
not returning in 2024 include retiring captain Matthew Wright, Isaya McKenzie and Louis Sharrad who have both retired from SANFL footy, and 2023 Dean Bailey Award winner Blayne O’Loughlin, who returns to North Adelaide under the SANFL Rookie Program agreement.

Also surprised. Always considered Haines as the type of guy that would keep playing for South while he was still contributing at league level, especially with the family ties to the club and how long it took him to become a league regular. Certainly one of our most important and influential players over the past half dozen seasons.

Broadbent, Gibbs, Haines, Heaslip, O'Neill, Rose and Sproule confirmed outs from the round 18 team. A lot of experience gone.
