Looks like the Eagles have been hard hit with injuries. Eight of the regular 22 will be missing. Let's hope the replacements stand up.

Big Phil wrote:Fascinating stat that I’ve worked out this morning doing my preparation for the call on SANFL Now.

Since WWT inception in 1990, there has been 20 of the past 34 Grand Finals played that feature at least one of these two clubs.

There has also been 14 x Premierships won (CD - 9 & EAG - 5) between them and 6 of these GF’s played featured both clubs.

So in the last 34 years, there has been 58.8% of Grand Finals that have featured one or both of the Dogs and Eagles.

Their first Grand Final in 2000 broke a 100 season sequence where every Grand Final had featured at least one of Port, Norwood, North or Sturt.
The 58.8% of Grand Finals is impressive but when you consider that Port played in 60 of the 101 Grand Finals (Sturt and North drew in 1919 and had to replay the Grand Final), Port had an even higher percentage of Grand Finals over 100 seasons than Central and Eagles have had combined.
Given that Norwood played in 31 Grand Finals, North in 28 Grand Finals and Sturt 22 Grand Finals each of Port-Norwood, Port-North and Port-Sturt would have had higher percentage of featuring than Central-Eagles.
I am in no way decrying the Centrals vs Eagles rivalry, but more highlighting how the have taken over from the four clubs who dominated the 20th century.

Yep might be a case of whose replacements step up best.
Dogs have 3 of last week's team not playing today due to injuries, making 7 of our regular (is there such a thing?) 22 not playing today.

And neither Club is as badly hit by injuries as some.

Solid team effort from the Dogs with lots of decent cameos.
Once again more efficient moving the ball inside 50.
Lange kicked 5 making it 4 different fwds have grabbed a SANFL Handful in the last 3 games.
Loved the efforts of Grant, Liddy and Barry in the middle and Grace is in career best form.
Presbury was outstanding in the first quarter before missing all the second getting 6 stitches inside his mouth. Still had an impact in the second half, before missing his award at presentations as he had to head off to get the stitches redone.

Credit to the eagles who fought it right thru. At times it looked as if the Dogs would kick away for a bigger W. Rowe was easily BOG with 30 plus disposals and two goals whilst Neumann pulled in a MOTY contender in the last quarter.

Pearce with a broken collar bone against his old Club.

Nice to be 4 -0 that was good win today against a very good football club.
Dont think the Eagles will be overly disappointed with the amount of class players they had out it was a good effort by them.
Losing Billy McCormack during the week to season ending ACL really hurts..
It was another good team effort

Wasn't an ACL injury for Billy.

Ruptured the patella tendon, much the same as Wayne Milera.

With both Pearce & McCormack out it only leaves Munn as our only tall forward

I will back Beau Thomas to take that role. Can also help out in ruck allowing Munn to stay forward more.

Will be interesting to see who comes in. Gasper may or may not be ready.
Shaw was very good in the twos yesterday, but may need another hit out.
Recruits Jack Callinan and Max Monaghan have gotten better every week and are both now cherry ripe for a league game.
One to keep an eye on is Harvey Howe who clearly does more around the ground than Ryan Pickering, so whilst Ryan has first crack at Billy's ruck spot, this may well come down to who shows more development under Buckets tutorship over the next few weeks.

Haven't seen enough of Posthuma as yet but could he possibly play forward or ruck.
Unfortunately Pickering is very limited after a centre bounce.
He doesn't impact around the ground or forward.
Maybe Harvey is a better option already.
Definitely time for Maximus to play league.

Lots of pre game posting from Eagles faithful, next thing a defeat, and deathly silence.
