After a disappointing loss to North a few weeks ago, Eagles have been better against Glenelg and Sturt the last couple of weeks, but not good enough to get the wins. The trend the last couple of seasons has been the Eagles dropping off in the latter half of the season. This is a must win game if the Eagles are to turn their season around.
Williams back in will be handy. With Herbert showing good form against Sturt, having both those players firing will give us some run that we've lacked a bit since Beecken left. Weare took a couple of strong marks and kicked some important goals in the last quarter last week. With Weckert on the sidelines, the Eagles are crying out for some help for Ballenden up forward. The inexperienced West and out of touch Menzel having no impact the last couple of weeks and the smalls struggling to impact on the scoreboard. Pearce is a possible return from injury, but he has hardly had an impact this season neither. The Eagles are struggling up forward, strong in defence and have a solid experienced midfield.
Eagles play the bottom 4 sides over the next month, before Norwood at home in the last game of the season. Win all 5 and they should finish 3rd. Any loss from here and the fight is on to stay in 5th above North. It all starts this week. Westies are much improved this year and are on the back end of a tough run of playing the top 4 teams over the last month. To push Central at Elizabeth last weekend is promising for them and I'd think they'd be quietly confident about winning this match at home, but it's too important for the Eagles. Eagles by 10 points.

I’d like to see some changes there’s 3 players in the seconds who could play in the league .
But we will see if there’s any changes today

Dear Big Phil - I believe the answer to the fun fact of who was the Crows mascot and also made it on to their AFL list was not Riley Knight or Lachy Murphy, but was Nick Joyce. He never played for the Crows and may have managed a league game or two for the Eagles. Not sure where his career headed after that? Maybe he went back to being the Crows mascot?
Eagles making football look very difficult in the first half. Westies by 9 points at half time.

Poor effort by the Eagles. Just like the last two seasons, when winter has hit and the ovals have become muddy, we've been found wanting. Luckily there still remains a gap to the bottom 5, some time for redemption, and the prospect of better conditions in September if they can find it in themselves to get their knees dirty and grate a couple of wins before it is too late.
West were strong when they had to be, especially in the air, and finished in front of goals well. They dominated all except the first 10 minutes of the game and loom as more of a threat to the opposition than the Eagles do currently.
