APOCALYPTO: Aztecs, but no Billy Thorpe!

"Most people I know, think that I'm crazy!
I know at times, I act a little Hazy!" :?

re. Mad Mel Gibson & his latest quasi-historical blood & guts epic 'Apocalypto'...
He's not pointing the accusing finger at the 'Evil Jews' this time for a change.
But bloodthirsty savage heathens who lived in Mexico before the advent of Christianity.
Similar to his previous outing 'The Passion of the Christ' it's all gore & subtitles.
However I gotta admit though, it was enjoyable escapism & unlike so many films of this genre it didn't get boring!
Can't say the same for Kevin Costner's self indulgent tribal wankpiece 'Rapa Nui' a coupla years back!
So yeah, go on check it out...
Not for historical accuracy, but for Aztec violence & brutality in all it's crimson glory!
:axe:
GO THE GROWL!!!

I thought so too until I saw the ending!
I won't go any further, coz I don't wanna spoil it for yaz....
But if you know your history, you'll see what I mean!
The film basically rips off aspects of all Meso-American tribes.
Creating a generic jumble of Aztec/Maya/Olmec/Toltec/Anasazi culture.
Different people, from different time periods & different locations.
Mel Gibson does take liberties in his film making!
The true story of William Wallace aka 'Braveheart' varies quite
considerably from the movie! :?
You get some pretty killa stuff on that 'History Channel' eh!
