It was short lived mainly because you can only use the same jokes for a certain amount of time.

I never thought there'd be anyone worse than Mike Goldman, but I was proven wrong...

Brought to you by the same morons who thought Sarah Marie's 'Bum Dance' was entertaining. To me, it looked like jelly being squeezed from an old sock.

It was a definite lowlight in Australian tv history, when the 3 commercial stations opted to bring in those late night quiz shows - Hotdogs, Quizmania on 9 (although they did have a nice redhead) and something similar on ch 7 as well.

Fortunately it didn't last too long.

That redhead was a stunner.

I'm hoping Channel 9 will one day revive Sale of the Century too.

Temptation was short-lived, wasn't it? But it was a Sale spin-off of sorts...

That show that Grant Denyer is probably the closest to Sale of the Century these days.

Not sure if ch9 will ever bring it - or Temptation - back.

I think it was Ed Phillips who hosted Temptation. I think he also hosted a quiz show on ch10 in late 90's, only went for a year or 2. Anyone remember the title of the show (I think it was based on a board game). I think "Barbarella" may have even featured in it.

Other obscure quiz shows which didnt last long - Lets Make a Deal hosted by Vince Sorrenti (late 80's/early 90's), Press Your Luck.

Quiz show hosted by Mark Baretta - "The Master" I think it was called - may have only lasted 1 episode.

"Live at 5" on ch9 late 80's didnt last long.

It would be good to see one of the original type of quiz/game shows (Blankey Blanks, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud) brought back - Price is Right is another one that was brought back recently and flopped. Semed to be a poor imitation though (similarly Bert's Family Feud, and Wheel of Fortune on 9hosted by former H and A actor Tim Campbell).

It's a Knockout was short lived the second time round.

Should be brought back in the original stadium format with state v state!

The latest incarnation was woeful!!

I agree that the Its a Knockout reincarnation was awful.

Maybe it even hurt HG Nelson's career too - havent seen him on 7, 9, or 10 since, although I think he might have been hosting some documentary on Foxtel recently.

Great shows with short runs:

Quark: 1 season, 8 episodes including pilot.

Ripping Yarns: 2 seasons but only 9 episodes in total. (Am currently working my way through the DVD of this.)

The Prisoner: 17 episodes total. (no, this is not the Aussie soap)

The Glynn Nicholas Show: only 10 episodes made.

The Supersizers go/eat...: 2 seasons, 13 episodes total including pilot.

The Highwayman: 10 episodes including pilot. (featuring Mark "Jacko" Jackson!)

Also Caprica only lasted for one season, but there was good reason for that...

Don't forget your toothbrush was TV brilliance!

I used to watch "third watch" religiously, which I thought was relatively short lived but upon further investigation have just found out it went for 6 seasons.

Commander in Chief was another good one, I think it only went for 2 seasons.

Always Greener was a great show which didn't last as long as it should've.
