My favourite isn't there either, the rock opera Tommy (circa 1974). Loved it then and still think it's the best now.

Cabaret is the only one of those that I've seen more than once and I think it's brilliant. Mind you I don't think of it as a musical per say. More a historical drama with a few songs thrown in.

Other similars...

Gimmie Shelter
Tommy
The Wall

Song Remains the same wasn't actually a good example of Zep's best work according to Jimmy Page it was 'an honest album in it's own way with some howling guitar mistakes on it' ("Hammer of the Gods" and others).

Metallica's "Some Kind Of Monster" possibly fits into this category too, although less music (in terms of complete songs) ... Great movie though!

God that movie was awful. A true wank fest. Pretentious crap. Wanna see a great movie about a band struggling......see Goodnight Cleveland by The Hellacopters. Or a movie about a band with some real troubles, see End of the Century: The story of the Ramones.

I agree CP,I from Pete's comments would guess he is not a Metallica fan,as a big fan,I loved it,showed a side of the guys no one would ever see on stage.I can see the "pretentious" point however, but hey, they are rock stars, did you expect level headed normal rational discussion between them Pete?

I guess the other thing it covered was the whole Napster issue (both in general and it's effects on the bands fanbase), the consequences of which have been felt by most internet users globally, and will go down in history
