Up to episode 562 of Prisoner

With Myra now gone, Nora has taken over as top dog, though she's more of a figurehead as the women have formed a 'council' where they become somewhat self-goverened.

Frank has escaped from his prison farm, tracks down Dennis and holds him and Meg hostage before shooting and crippling him. While Meg supports Dennis through the whole ordeal, Dennis realises that he needs to work out who he is now and leaves her.

Meanwhile, the prison nurse discovers the cause for Daphne's mood swings - a severe case of PMT which leads to her depression. Most of Daphne's storyline now evolves around proving the PMT caused her crimes so she can be released.

And Joan has found love - fellow inmate Terri Malone (played by Margot Knight - whose previous role in the series was Judy's first love Sharon Gilmour)

Have gone on a bit of a Prisoner watching rampage this weekend - up to episode 578 now, and not a great deal has changed.

Joan and Terri have split up, and Joan is seen crying in the corridors of Wentworth.

The main changes have been the arrival of Eve Wilder - who murdered her lover but claims it was self defence -, and the return of a Reb Kean, who is a very different person after 26 bouts of ECT courtesy of Cynthia Leach (Blackmoor's mysterious bent screw who is good mates with Joan).

Meanwhile Merv and Joyce go on a cooking contest. Somehow Merv wins the contest, which is hosted by Paul Makin and is judged by Peter Russell-Clarke,

Reached episode 586 of Prisoner - the arrival of Rita 'the beater' Connors, and Barbie Cox, whose only words uttered in the show in her 15 episode stint were 'naughty naughty'.

586 is an action packed episode where Rita arrives, Eve reveals her true colours when she bashes Joyce senseless and Reb gets the blame when she finds Joyce, and Lou Kelly takes over from Nora as top dog.

Another mass character exodus is underway. First, Jenny Hartley is acquitted of her grandmothers murder and is released. WIllie and May 'escape' (with the help of the police) and help an international crime gang rob a museum. The plan was the cops would get the masterminds and Willie and May would be pardoned. However, May is killed in an altercation, leaving Willie to be pardoned, but lonely at the loss of her best mate.

IIRC, Prisoner got a bit disappointing around this time (if not earlier) .. Rita came in all guns blazing and looked unstoppable til some simpleton owned her .. Willie and May were just padding to the show and boring as all ****.

Granted, Im trying to remember from a LONG time ago

It got really bad after the Ballenger siege and Myra was killed off. The Nora Flynn era was quite bland, but the arrival of Eve, and then Rita brought life back into the show. While 1986 brought some life back into the show, the damage had already been done. As bad as Willie/May were, I found Jenny Hartley to be the most annoying character in this era of the show.

Rita wasn't completely owned by Merle (the simpleton). The Freak wanted Merle to own Rita to a) get rid of Rita and b) have Merle put in a mental institution but Rita or Kath Maxwell would often be able to defuse Merle and remind her of what would happened if she attacked anyone.

Gotta agree with that .. Nora did 1 decent actionish thing after Myra was popped, and then the rest was an 11pm recipe for sleep .. Connors might have briefly restored it, but the show never recovered after the loss of Bea I think

Agreed. 1984 (the first full post-Bea year) was still a very good and enjoyable season as links to the past were often used with cameo appearances by Helen, Margo, Doreen and Marie, plus the return of Judy to Wentworth as an inmate. We also had a top dog in Myra whose backstory most of the audience would have known through her PRG work and connection to Bea. 1985 seemed to involve constant near-complete replacement of inmates (Bobby/Marlene/Matt/Geoff/Frank//Judy early in 85 then the 4 of the Barnhurst 5/Jenny Hartley/Eve Wilder late in 85/very early 86). 1986 was able to bring it back to somewhat of a decent standard but the damage had already been done in 85 and the viewers never returned.

BTW, anyone seen 'The Event', and is it worth buying on DVD? I only watched like 1 ep on FTA before it was dumped/changed time whatever.

Not really. Got canned like Flash Forward, like V...
Ended on a cliffhanger; overall was okay, but had some pretty irritating elements and characters that dragged it down.
Wiki page suggest a telemovie might be made.

It's just that it got some hype, I watched an ep (about ep 4 or 5) and I was interested. And then I read that it's from the producers (or something like that) of 24, my fav show ever, and that it has a few twists and stuff. But at $60 for a show that only went 1 season, bit of a risk.

Reached episode 600 of Prisoner.

Lou Kelly runs Ann out of the governors job, and the department put Bob Moran in as temporary governor. Moran cracks down on security, prompting Lou to start a hunger strike. Moran then serves the meals in the cells, seeing most of the women break the strike behind Lou's back.

Rita and the Freak already have a deep hatred of each other. Joan destroys Rita's jacket, so Rita (who has a CB radio smuggled into the prison) arranges for her gang to destroy Joan's house. So Joan destroys the gang's headquarters, the gang blame a rival gang and Rita's boyfriend Slasher is killed in a gang brawl.

Meanwhile, there's a phantom lager in the prison - leaving notes implicating the women in certain incidents such as having the Freak stuffed in a dryer. Lou thinks Lexie is the lagger and wants her dead. So Jessie Wyndum (who is actually Lexie's mother but Lexie doesn't know it) arranges Lexie to escape through the air-conditioning (like Nora did recently) to hide out at her parlour. However, a maniac, who just mutilated Nora and dumped her remains at Wentworth, is now out after Lexie, intending to do the same.

While Lexie is out, Eve is revealed as the phantom lagger when Lurch overhears her telling the Freak who put her in the dryer.

All this leads to the explosive Lou Kelly riot - where Joan, Joyce (on her first shift back after Eve's attack and sporting a ridiculous wig), prison 'handyman' Steve Ryan (who is actually Joyce's surgeon who wants to do some research on prisoners) and Meryn are held hostage. Joyce is released quickly to deliver the women's demands, Steve spends most of the riot administering first aid to Chook, who is severely beaten in the riot, leaving Meryn locked in a cell by himself. The two main highlights of the riot are Lou executing Eve by publicly hanging her in the dining room, followed by arranging a fight to the death between Rita and Joan. Bob then regains control of the prison before they kill each other, but was impressed with Rita's efforts in the riot that he offers her the top dog position, which she accepts. Bob also arranges the dropping of Barbie's charges (and we never know exactly what she was charged with) and the early release of Jessie.

Hellraiser: Revelations

This the ninth movie in the series came out this year and was actually an "ashcan" movie made purely as a contractual obligation so as not to lose the rights to the franchise because they intend to do a Hellraiser remake soon.

It is the first Hellraiser film not to feature Doug Bradley as Pinhead, was made on a very cheap budget and only shown once in one cinema with no advertising and with no intention of being released on DVD.

After the fanboi's kicked up a fuss they decided to release it on DVD this month so I decided to download it (shoot me) and expected the absolute worst.

Surprisingly, kinda alright and holds it's own in the series.
