In fairness during my time in the journalism industry it is extremely rare a journalist purely makes something up from scratch.

Do they take the word and print stories from known poor sources............absolutely. Do they always double check their source............no chance.

It could be along the lines of Jay Clarke asked someone (maybe even the receptionist at the front desk) at Carlton "would you try & get Ollie Wines if he ever became available"

Pretty much what Patton has given GWS over the years, he was touted as being better than Jeremy Cameron, injuries certainly have hindered him but he's not even in the same library.
