Tom Browne:
I’m not dismissing a story. But I can report people linked to wines say he is not rapt about reports his management approached Carlton / potentially wanted out. Management say they didn’t directly approach Carlton. It’s pretty clear wines is very committed to port.

Who gets held accountable for the bullshit then?

Nobody, that's the problem.

The first accredited ambulance chaser to quote it.
If its just social media tripe then leave it there, and don't go to print with it.

This has been a strange trade period. So much speculation and rumours and BS it's almost like a bad reality TV show.

Gil and his cronies have played it well.
First cricket test only 5 weeks away and you would hardly know about. The AFL wants to dominate the media for 12 months a year, why do you think they are looking at more drafts and trade periods

And also the sole reason why the AFLW play in the middle of summer.

In fairness during my time in the journalism industry it is extremely rare a journalist purely makes something up from scratch.

Do they take the word and print stories from known poor sources............absolutely. Do they always double check their source............no chance.

It could be along the lines of Jay Clarke asked someone (maybe even the receptionist at the front desk) at Carlton "would you try & get Ollie Wines if he ever became available"

Pretty much what Patton has given GWS over the years, he was touted as being better than Jeremy Cameron, injuries certainly have hindered him but he's not even in the same library.

Correct. The money they save on Scully and Patton can be used to retain decent players.
