Trengove is the only one realistically likely to hurt us, given Austin's departure.

Rockliff, Motlop & Watts don't come to the club if we don't free up cap space.

Not to mention we clearly have no regard for this years pool beyond the 3rd round.

Did anyone ever quote a youth policy...or are you making that up?

Young and Ah Chee had enough opportunity to cement a spot.

Impey and Trengove I'm still unsure about. Certainly Trengove.

I thought that's what Jackson Trengrove was told

I've read A LOT about Jacko's departure and didn't see that. Not to say it hadn't...but I haven't seen it.

Give a coach 4 years, after not winning a final for 3 years and this will happen.

This is exactly what Voss did at Brisbane....

And Brisbane are still trying to get over the effects of it

I've been completely oblivious to the AFL world over the last week with a lot of last minute work and as I speak I am typing this from my balcony whilst watching ambitious Asian tourists getting pulled out of the big swell at Surfers....

I have only just heard of the McKenzie and J.T deal... Port have been the most inconsistent team in the AFL for 3 years and they then go and recruit up to 6 blokes with 5 of them incredibly inconsistent or unable to crack in to teams that haven't played a 1 finals match between them in the last 7 years. Rockliff is a genuine gun and that's a massive pick up! Proof will be in the pudding next year- It will be very interesting to see how Port fare.

Inconsistent team might have been reflective of the inconsistent players we kept rotating in and out. Impey, Ah Chee, Young all had chances and couldn't secure them and I'd think most would agree as far as forward options go Motlop has them covered. Keep in mind he's been plying his trade in a side that's finished top 4 in the last 2 years while the three I note above have been in and out of a side who played one final this year. Many Port fans would say Impey had a gold pass for patches of 2016 and 2017. I hope he can find some stability off field and play some good footy, he's struggled off field and it would be good to see him settled.

Lobbe's card was marked early in 2016 when Trengove was preferred to him in the ruck, unfortunately for Lobbe any chance he may have had ( albeit very, very slight ) to regain an AFL spot was cut down by a medial in the early-mid part of 2016. He never even looked close to being considered in 2017 such was his form. He should really have made the SANFL his own this year. He couldn't/didn't.

Most will agree Rockliff is a big in, would make most sides in the competition and adds to our inside ball winning ability.

Watts I'm not sure about, he's been inconsistent in an inconsistent team that for much of his time had a very ordinary record and collectively a very ordinary head on it's shoulders. When Dixon arrived with question marks about his preparation were rife, we've sorted that, I hope we can do the same with Watts. Perhaps he was too comfortable in his surroundings and needs the shake up?

McKenzie is behind Pittard, Hartlett, DBJ, Houston and Broadbent across half back. Trengove is behind around 8 in the midfield mix, both are purely insurance for a season. I see Pittard, DBJ and Hartlett as our starting smalls in defence with Houston and Broadbent having to earn a spot and McKenzie is behind them.

Thomas....makes me feel sick thinking about it.

Thomas is a strange one. Even on the rookie list it is a strange one. Better of taking a punt on a local kid than him, I really feel hes cooked.

Even if he's got some work lined up in our indigenous programs post playing days he's hardly an SA boys any more, he's been in Melbourne for 11 years now.

I just can't bring myself to accept it.

Being an SA boy or not has nothing to do with working in the programs, or the impact/input he'd have. :?

Why not just employ him to work in the program then?

Still a year to go on his contract.

I think you've misinterpreted my thoughts.

It would be strange for him to come back to Adelaide just to play for us on a one year deal so I figure he must have something lined up with Pauly and the boys to even consider the move back to SA. Good luck to him if he has, can't we just bypass the year on the list though? :D

You guys don’t have to pick him each week. Surely there is no guarantees he gets a AFL game.
