Does future mean "next year" or can you hold on to it?

FWIW, I think it's ridiculous.

Sauce straight swap for Frampton in essence. Take that every day.

This has Adelaide / Carlton written all over it.

Initally I was disappointed we are giving up pick 8, but taking a step back it seems a very good deal overall for us and also indicates how desperate Melbourne are at the moment.

Do North have any academy or Father Son's in next years draft they are building draft points up for?

I know they are saying about 40% of the top 40 picks next year are linked to various clubs via academy's or FS.

As for Melbourne if they believe they can get back up the ladder they might as well get two top 10 picks in now to blood in the team rather than one each year.

Port give - 10, Howard and Ryder to St Kilda

Port get - 12 and 18

It's a ******* stinker. Ryder, worth a late 4th rounder at best, so we won't count him as anything. Means we've turned 10 into 12 and Howard into 18.

WT actual?

Better have something lined up for the 2 picks.

Probz off-loading Ryder free's up some space in the cap but yeah, it's like Kenny was giggling in the corner thinking let me do something, let me do something.

Ryder was Port's highest paid this year apparently, so would be decent cap relief

It's reasonable, you now have a 24 year old back up playing SANFL instead of a 31 year old.

Port get 12,18 and future 3rd rounder.

St Kilda get 10, Howard, Ryder and future 4th rounder.

I'm lost.

Dutchy wrote:2 Second rounders which could now be bundled up to get back into the 1st round, but I think this is a deep draft so going back 18 places (but also grabbing Melbournes 2020 1st rounder) is a good trade.

Index indicates it also -

North will be banking on the Demons to repeat their horror 2019 campaign.

Under the draft value index, even if the Demons win the premiership next year (meaning their future pick is worth 948 points), North will be ahead in the trade by 473 points.

Interesting Melbourne currently only have 2 picks in this years draft now, isn't there a minimum number of kids you need to draft?

The minimum is indeed 3, however you can count a rookie upgrade as one of them

23 and 32 at start of season next year. Clearly one has upside whereas one is on the downward trend. Not sure if Billy is up to AFL standard as a 2nd ruck/forward but would prefer he be on the list than keep Jacobs.

It's amazing how when a player gets drafted to a new club he always seems to have a new guernsey with him within minutes and it seems to fit perfectly.

Ryder was out of contract anyway so they didnt actually need to trade him to get the relief

I'm lost.

Whilst I think Howard's value on the open market is probably an early - mid second rounder, his value to Port is much, much more.

I am still amazed he was encouraged to test the market.
