Rance would be in a massive minority if he walks. I think sometimes we just have to accept that some people would sooner pursue other interests.

Isnt Rance a Jovo?
If so dont they have to take some time off to go and spread the word. Perhaps footy isnt his first love, maybe he has a stronger tie to his faith

Thought so, seemed to recall him discussing on air with Finey a month or so ago

in all seriousness though, what about the game would you like to change that you think will keep him at richmond, if indeed he walks away?

if he decides he doesnt want to put up with the pressures and training of afl footy then thats his prerogative, he can do as he wishes.

if it is something else i would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Benny, I think it's more about the lifestyle that's the concern. The training and meetings, the constant scrutiny, such as Judd and Clarko have just been witness to. I don't know if its the game/style or whether it's Richmond per se more so everything that comes with it.

If you listen to the old-er players on radio the one thing they love is playing footy. What they don't love is the meetings about the game they love.

Brad Scott said recently that the AFL players want everything that comes with the game, NFL style (free agency, $$'s) but nothing to do with the hard yards. I dunno, I just see it that if we're turning guys away from the game, isn't that counter-productive?

It's just a sign of the times. You can't earn half a million a year and then complain about having to work hard for it imo

no, soft for wanting all the money, but not willing to work for it.

players mainly and some officials get far too much abuse/harassment in public

AFL has approved future trading of picks at a meeting today. It works in the US will be interesting to see how its implemented here. There was talk of adding a pick insurance to prevent any abnormalities

hows it work? an example:
Geelong can give AFC pick 10 from the 2016 and there first pick in 2017 for Paddy D?

Yeah the basics are easy but starts getting murky with clubs having exceptionaly poor or good seasons.
For example if the Suns gave pick 17 and then first pick in 2017 for a player and then next year do a Dogs or better and finish top 4, that pick is then devalued quite a bit. Think thats where the AFL "insurance" will come in and they will assess what pick a club gets.
