Well of course they dont! They're always going out to win ;)

Why would they want extra time for anyway? If they did i bet you the Players Association would demand extra pay for overtime.
Also the 1st player to go down with a season ending injury in extra time everyone will be questioning why is it necessary apart from in finals ??

Well done mate. Good win. Give credit where credit's due. I sat next to kane Farrells old man and father in law. Ripper blokes. Was happy for them.

Initial comment not aimed at you*

Indeed he is, when Farrell joined the club in 2018 his old man and some mates stayed at the Hendon Hotel and wandered over to Alberton to watch him play his first SANFL game. I had a beer with them at the pub then met them at Alberton for a few, great bunch of blokes. Farrell now one of the best kicks in the competition, strokes* them from 50m into the second row, as he did twice on Friday night.

And they can start the news a fraction later.
It reminds me of Channel 9 during summer from years gone by during ODI cricket where the first innings would finish at 5.30pm, a show like Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Postcards would be on for half an hour then the news comes on at 6pm meaning the first half an hour of the second innings wouldn't be telecast, I could never get why the news couldn't be on at 5.30 when the first innings finishes.

It just frustrates me that the 6pm news still holds right of way and channels (in this case now channel 7) aren't more flexible with it and the footy is transferred to 7mate for the last part of it.

I do note that I think the news finished early on Friday night as the Geelong v Port game started at 6.40 our time.

It's just a fascination with news starting at 6pm.
Ch7 have had no issues with shortening the news, but what's the difference if it's slightly delayed??

Think the 6pm news is still the highest rating show on commercial TV.
But ch7 want the Sunday twilight games to run into the news and yet they put on South aussie with Cosi

Yep, and we would return with Bill or Greigy "Welcome back to our Adelaide viewers, the West Indies pace attack have started well, and the Aussies are 3/13. Border on 10* and Waugh yet to score".

And then when Gilchrist came into the side opening with Mark Waugh you just prayed that you saw a left hander on the screen when the telecast came back on.

Jeez, imagine the outrage in the days (that some of us old bastards remember) when there were no remotes and you had to get up to change channels.

My old man just use to yell out to me or my brother to change it for him.
He’d then say, ‘get us another beer when ya done there’!

I was more Gilchrist/Hayden era but had he same sentiment, I was always hoping Gilchrist was still in.

I thought it wasn't hard to just have the footy on 7 which runs into the news like you said but apparently not. I just find it strange.
