For poor governance.

To the best of my knowledge, the club is yet to be sanctioned for doping.

Didn't they also cop a 2 million dollar fine

The club won't receive any further sanctions from the AFL, Gill has stated this numerous times.

Can you tell me the clubs penalty?

Our penalty will be sitting at the bottom for decades ala Carlton.
The $ ramifications will also be huge, we have a stack of money hidden away but this will cripple the club financially without some heavy backers coming in

Yep, Simpkins, Polkinghorne, Kelly and Stokes also close to signing.
Wonder what compensation we are paying South Fremantle as Crowley just signed a 2 year deal to play and be assistant coach

Stokes is an interesting one. Need to get him fit and his mind right and I think he could be rather handy. Just seemed to be off the rails towards the end there.

He knew his card was marked. Would be a tough gig, being expected to train at AFL level when in your heart you know you aren't an AFL footballer anymore.

I don't think Essendon will be down for as long as people think. The players that come back in 2017 will probably be as fit as they've every been and have no injuries from not having played a whole season. You'll have the no 1 pick in the next draft, most likely 2 picks in the top 20-22. Woosha will be into his 2nd year of coaching and will be really settled with everyone knowing the game plan etc.

This year will be sh!t for you guys but next year and beyond I think will be a lot better than people think.

Essendon were banished from the finals in 2013 or 14? fined massively and had draft pick sanctions for 2 years. The club has been punished.

All can break their contracts and leave at seasons end if they wish. Would imagine several will move on

A possible scenario. Of the guys still on your list Watson and Stanton may not come back but the rest still have footy left in them.
Cale Hooker (133 games)
David Myers (85 games)
Michael Hurley (119 games)
Michael Hibberd (84 games)
Tayte Pears (70 games)
Tom Bellchambers (79 games)
Travis Colyer (57 games)
Dyson Heppell (106 games) - future captain
Ben Howlett (117 games)
Heath Hocking (124 games)
It could also come down to who out of this list go after the club for damages beyond what they will get paid this year. Say if Bellchambers decides he wants to sue Essendon for millions then I don't think he would play for them again. If the club looks after them this year as much as they legally can I would think most will be back in a Bombers Guernsey next year.

They are ripe for the picking for free agency if their contracts allow them to walk out.

I think given the circumstances of this last few weeks any contract would be torn up without any questions, if the player wished for that to happen.

The only stumbling block might be the draft/trade period, but you'd think Essendon would be keen on as many top 30 picks as they can get so watch the other clubs start circling now.

Clubs would've been circling for a while. It'll be an interesting period come trade time this year

Think they are declared as delisted FA so clubs wouldn't have to trade. Guys like Hurley are on massive contracts with multiple years to go so I'd imagine they would only leave if a club offers better.
The club has already offered players an extra 1 year extension to all players if they choose to stay
