Crows (well known) low ball. It's a habit they need to get out of as it has cost them talent.
The only bargaining chip they have in these instances is Lever and Gov are not free agents, so if we lose them, it will not be for nothing.
the numbers talked about for Gov are a joke, but if he gets offered that from a WA club, good luck to him. Crows need to get closer clearly but not sell the farm on Gov.
Lever I would pay him what he wants though. Regardless that he is normally the 3rd tall, his contested marking ability down back and run off his opponent is already elite, and would transfer even if he was the 1st or 2nd defender. Can't afford to lose him.

Yep, thats the bit that gets left off of all of these rumours.

who are Melbourne stumping up to get the deal done?

Who are freo likely to put on the table?

If Gov said Freo was his destination of choice, I would ask them for Lachie Neale and next years first rounder, for Gov and our first pick this year..

Do you think winning the flag would help keep either player, or would it make it easier for them to leave on a high note?

We will keep both IMO. Mark Stevens and Mitch Cleary Monday night tweeted their Crows sources said McGovern is very close to signing a 2 year deal. (I'd suggest that is his manager maximising his contract $$ and leaving the door open for a return to WA).

Lever no doubt listening to a few VIC clubs and huge $$. The club will pay him what he is worth and will either sign a huge 5 year deal or a 2 year deal like Gov.

I like how people say the Crows 'low ball players' and that's why we have lost talent. Please tell me how Bock, Davis, Tippet, Gunston, Dangerfield were 'low balled' and that's why they left? Hawthorn and Geelong built success on not over paying players and building a culture around this.

Imagine how much Jenkins would've got if he didn't accept such a low ball offer.

Victorian media rubbish imo. Any good player has to want to come and play for a Victorian club

If he's Victorian, it makes sense the the rumors...

Lever - Victoria
McGovern - WA

Crows paying him $550-600k, if that in any way restricts keeping McGovern up front then lol.

Plenty of my Crow mates reckon they should have taken Brisbane's picks, let Jenkins walk and kept the coin for the two currently in negotiations.

If we were willing to pay Gibbs decent cash last year i'm sure there is enough room to move in the cap to keep both + the 20% CBA...

If McGovern is suddenly worth $750 and Charlie Dixon is worth $600 (both the 2016 and 2017 versions of Charles) then $550 seems pretty right for Jenkins

Just read the article from Sam McClure - Suggests Lever meeting directly with the club is a bad sign, but then goes on to say how happy he is in Adelaide and has thoughts of future captaincy at the Crows, so having a bit each way on it.

I think for years a lot of AFL fans wanted the hectic trading of the American sports, which seems to well and truly be here these days and is probably a good thing (depending on whether its your own club risking loss of a good player lol)

McGovern's not worth $750k though and if a Freo or whatever offer him that good luck to him. He gets the third tall defender each week behind Jenkins & Tex at the Crows. The way Jenkins played last year he deserved that $550k a year contract perhaps not 5 years but that's why we got him for $550k.

If I was to guess I reckon Lever goes and McGovern stays. Just my gut feel with all the rubbish flying around.

I reckon Lever will be getting some irresistible offers from clubs in Melbourne, the Dees being the front runner, as rumor suggests.

Bombers having a real dip at Lever I believe. Not real happy if that's so as it's pretty clear we need mids, mids and more mids

I hear your Dispute Resolution Manager one Mr Gatto has suggested Lever agree to meet him in the store room for an offer he can't refuse.

At least he isn't a free agent so clubs would be stumping up big. We would want a first rounder at least for McGovern and more than that for lever.

Most VIC clubs are, and rightly so. No real consistent talk out of the Melbourne media though, it's Melbourne one week, Collingwood the next and then the Dogs. Now today i've read he's met with Melbourne officials and he will request a trade to Collingwood haha
