If yes, bye bye.

Correct. Mrs and his parents want him home to Vic. He wants to stay in Adelaide

But like you said, we all know the script in this situation

Surely he can afford to fly them to adelaide every weekend if they want :)

Apparently Lever has publicly denied meeting with Melbourne officials last week .. Could be some sort of good news for Crows fans.

I reckon they might keep him but lose MM.

Looks like We should be scouting these blokes missus' when considering drafting them.

Don't recruit blokes with high school sweethearts, who'll end up cracking the shits and forcing their men to move when they're ok with staying.

It might be a factor but considering the cost of living in Adelaide as long as it was reasonably close the AFC would still be a club of choice.

I'd rather earn 650k in Adelaide than 750k in Melbourne, for example.

True but if rumours of clubs like Collingwood and the Dogs are offering $800k plus x 5 or 6 years and the Crows offering $450k x 4 years it starts to become a huge point of difference

From my understanding Lever is genuinely torn with his decision, and is taking his time in making the correct one, as it will have a large impact on the next phase of his life, more than understandable. I hope he stays, but if he goes, then life will go on. We couldnt recover from losing Dangerfield either apparently... McGovern on the other hand, would be mad to turn down the reported figures to go home, absolutely mad..

Charlie Cameron - well if he wants to go to a mediocre side, in a debacle of a footballing state, to play in front of 12,000 people each week, most who dont give a sh!t about the game, then so be it

Listening to his interview last night i agree, i don't think Jake generally has made a decision yet. Obviously a huge decision for a 21 year old, he has his friends (players) here in Adelaide telling him to stay and by the sounds of it his family saying come home. He comes across as a mature and intelligent young man and that's why he keeps saying he won't be rushed into a decision, still processing all the offers and advice he is receiving.

I think his family situation would have to be pretty dire for Charlie to leave this year and the trade would have to be very good for the Crows to consider! Charlie is also from Mt Isa which is a about as close to Brisbane as Adelaide is! Cash might talk at the end of next year though when he is out of contract.

Mitch surely signs on for another 2 years. Besides money there is no other reason you would want to play at the Eagles (who will bottom out next year) and Freo who are still 3 odd years away from the top 8. Cash in and go home in another 3 years Mitch!

If we lost 2 or 3 it would be disastrous, but we would have cash and about 5 picks in say the top 30 to try and lure some talent across...

The list management staff haven't done much wrong over the past few years IMO so i am willing to wait and reserve judgment until after the trade period!

Speaking with someone this morning who's very familiar with contract negotiations, he reckons if the Crows can get within $100k of other offers, he'd be confident of Lever staying. However, if they're short by even $150k per year, it's a tough ask to get anyone to hang around.

Now that Reid is staying at the Swans I wouldn't be surprised if Collingwood throw close to a million at him

If Adelaide are offering Jake Lever $450k then their off field admin ought to be marched out the door. That will be just slightly above the *average* wage for an AFL player next year.

Lever is a young, elite, key position back and ought to be paid accordingly. $700k over 3 or 4 minimum IMO.

haha Jake would be on 450k now! I've heard the Crows have offered around 700k for 4 years. Pretty fair for a 50 game 21 year old!

I don't think he is worth that much for that long and I really like him as a player and in the team. Not the big back man that you can build the defence around like. Steven May

Has Lever signed any extensions in his first 3 seasons? I assume we would have signed him for 2 years at draft and then maybe added a year?
I still find it hard to swallow that a 21 year old defender could possibly get paid nearly $1M a season. That is stupid money for a defender, even a good one. His role at the crows can be covered.
